Hey guys, here is the latest with Origo... We just got first articles of the PCBAs and final samples from our die-cast guys. The finish is a bit off but I think people are getting antsy so we are going to tweak a couple easy defects and start shipping asap. As soon as the outer shells hit our CM's door step they are going to plop them together, test and box them up for shipping.

We also decided to make our own connectors, I don't know if you guys know that I used to design connectors for a living but anyway... We decided that rather than spending $30K on connectors we would instead spend it on tooling and make our own. We are close to having the first 4 pin connectors squared away - need to fix the ugly strain relief and get our nice little logo on there but they are working out perfectly. 5000+ cycles and no problems. The best part is that they are 100% lemo compatible so lemos will fit our receptacles and our plugs will fit their receptacles. Hope you guys like black :)

Black is beautiful... this looks great Curt.

Watching your posted schedule at the VFS forum (great breakdown btw-- I bet it has saved you a lot of e-mails), I bet we start seeing a lot great new pictures over the next few weeks.

Cheers,

Andrew

I'm flying over to Asia tomorrow to kick some ass. If I don't come back with the parts by Wednesday of next week then someone send in the reinforcements.

Ah, Curt, your sample looks amazing but what happened to the GPI button you had on the original design?

It was redundant. I thought I would have to change modes when used for GPI but it turned out that it worked just fine without doing anything weird on Origos side. Just plug it into the bottom port and set the port up for frame ramping or single frame capture and it works great.

Kurt,

Looks great. Can't wait! Still planning to make the stop/start button Red?

Not only did it look cool, but it speaks to its functionality and of course... the camera.

Can't wait for this Curt. IMHO These are a must for every camera, all the time. Mine will live on the camera because with the camera being silent the Origos beep system of 1 beep when rolling and 2 beeps when you cut will be very important.

Have fun in Asia.

OK then, thanks for the reply, I'm looking forward to using it.

Yeah, the black and red makes it look like the batmobile.

Thanks Darren. Its always interesting over there. Its only going to be a few days, thats all I'll need to get these guys in line. I've been using the trigger on a couple cameras for the past couple months and its definitely nice having the beep and not having to look to verify that record has started or stopped. Its indispensable for frame ramps on jibs and steady cam shots. The coiled cables are coming in early next week... those are gonna be cool. They stretch from 2.5 ft out to 12 ft.

Ohh I can do better then that. I know a guy who can hook you up very cheaply if you wanna stop in the Maldives for a few days

By the way my order....

I really hope that you don't break any patents by making your own "Lemo" connectors...

Curt, don't you realize, people in Asia are ninjas
