  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So I'm just some dude who shot some cool stuff on a DVX100 and now I have this completely ridiculous tool and I have no idea what I'm doing! But I grab a light, a keychain LED, and a buddy and I get to work!

I'm amazed at what I was able to accomplish! Not to imply these are impressive grabs, but I easily anticipated needing to practice and test for a while before I got results even acceptable :) quick tweak in RED ALERT! and jpeg compressed in photoshop. Sigma 28-70mm f2.8

forgive the cliche compositions, my dining room is small and unattractive so i wanted to just push it out of focus. sweet sweet 35mm ;)

Is it me, or should-could the 2nd & 3rd grabs been sharper? In the 3rd one, for instance, there's almost as much blur on the candle as there is on the face; it's like, which of the two do you wanna focus on? In the 2nd grab, the edges of the candle lack the same definition as the candle's edges...I don't know.

let me point out that for all the shots there was no operator :) I was the subject in the first grab, and in the other 2 I was trying different things with the keychain LED

I can see what happened there. You were zoomed in at 70mm, and just a couple of inches from the lens, the DOF being extremely shallow, and you being the subject, it was impossible for you to focus more selectively. The image quality is nevertheless very impressive. I can't wait to be using my Nikons and Sigmas with this camera.

exactly, hard to nail focus without an operator :) but like I said, I don't think they should have come out as good as they did. vive la RED!

Some of the more exciting screen shots I've seen here as far as light level testing goes. Thanks

This is really encouraging for someone who is also cutting their teeth on the simple DVX.

The dude in the second grab kinda has a resemblance to Johnny Depp I might add.

Hey Craig, SF isn't that far from Monterey, you should come shoot with us :)
