It's titled ABIMBOWE.

It was meant to be shot with MacGregor's RED ONE, but in the end we couldn't use it. We used a Sony Z1.

It's a very simple piece that somehow manages to playfully address such delicate issues as racism or immigration.

Hope you like it:

Concrete, what a nice little scene. The hair washing is such a tender thing and the look on the old lady's face makes the whole piece. Nice work!

Now, how in the hell did you make Z1 footage look so nice!?!

Is there a soft fx on the camera or did you do this all in post?

Concrete.

Powerful and reaffirms the belief that a film does have the capacity to invoke thought and perhaps even change people through insight...This touched me on an emotional level...And I am pretty jaded.

BTW I really liked the head work, no pun intended...What was it? fluid or geared for those sharp smooth moves & stops in the intro?

DogDay.

This is super, super fantastic. I rarely ever like shorts, but I absolutely love this one. I bet you will get into - and maybe even win - festivals with this.

Do you have a link to a higher res-copy? Maybe try uploading it at vimeo.com. You will get a great response from the community there, and you can post at 720p.

Thanks for the kind words, though all the credit should go to my actresses and to my cinematographer and partner, Jon D. Dominguez.

We shot this at night with 4 small lights. I think they all summed up about 3 or 4 KW.

My little contribution to the look took place in posproduction, done in After Effects.

We will be uploading a better version after we try luck in a couple of festivals.

Great! You can make the vid available for direct download there as well.

yeah you might want to watermark it?

Wow, I still own an Z1 and it never looked like that. Were you using a 35mm adaptor?

Very engaging directing and story!

Thanks for the compliments, people.

No. We shot this at night. The look is really due to careful cinematography, my coloring skills and Magic Bullet Looks, which is an amazing tool, by the way.

yeah you might want to watermark it?

That's a very good idea. When I find the time, I will do that.

Great! BTW very good actors too ! It looks more like a scene from a long feature then a short film...a very perfectly done scene with a strong message without being loud. Want to see more!:weight_lift:
Thank you for sharing it!

Wow. Great work. Very subtle, but strong message. I liked that I didn't immediately know that the old woman was blind. When I discovered it, it was during the same time that she sort of pulls back from the younger woman as she starts to guide her into the bathroom.

I wanna see a feature length about these woman's lives.

Good luck to you.
