I signed up for an account on RedRelay.net so that I could upload some of my test footage users requested to see and still have not heard back from anyone in 2 or 3 days. I own and have possession of a Red camera and provided the requested information on the form.

What other sites are recommended for uploading footage and what settings, compression and resolution standard has everyone agreed on for best compromise of upload/download time and evaluation quality?

same here, but it's been quite longer for me. he stated the site isn't his full job and he's not making any loot from it. we just have to bear with him for now.

Is there an alternative? Also, does anyone have advice on how to best prepare/export for web viewing by the Red community. Need to find the optimum balance between resolution, quality and file size.

Still no word back, I would really like to upload some test footage for the Red community. Perhaps as a community we could convince Apple, Microsoft or Google/YouTube to commit some bandwidth and a tailored resolution for Red users. I don't think Vimeo is high resolution enough for our purposes. Optimal solution would be where we would upload some relatively lossless 2k file and their system would automatically generate 1k, 1080p, 720p, 512x256 and perhaps an iPhone or iTV viewable version so that viewers could pick their format depending upon their connection speed, monitor size and etc.

Anyone here know anyone high up at either of those three companies that we could pitch the idea to? I could probably build the application/site, but the problem is the cost of the bandwidth that would certainly skyrocket over the next year as cameras are delivered, interest increases and Scarlet arrives.

Don't worry. Redrelay is still up and running. Chris just moved it to a new server. I'm still sponsoring his costs. The world is continuing to turn, it's just summer time and he's hella busy.

Thanks for jumping in there, Ian.

Hey guys- RedRelay is still up, however until this week, I have had no time to add new accounts or manage files. This is why I was looking for a coder some months ago. Anyway, enough excuses- suffice it to say that I've coordinated a new theater opening in my city, shot 3 shorts and consulted on several productions that have been shot in Shreveport over the last while.

But now I'm back in full force and will begin responding to emails tonight. Everyone should have an account that has asked for one by tomorrow morning.

Thanks for your patience.

Chris, it is great to see you back and I hope the new theater opening went well for you and all involved. Take care man...

It's all good Chris. Just glad RedRelay is still alive and strong.

Everyone should be set. I answered close to 40 emails- many just general inquiries. Be sure to tell me when you upload a clip. Also, our bandwidth has come under a lot of scrutiny lately so be selective in your clips- make sure they are of real benefit to you and the community!

Thanks too all for your patience!
