Hey Guys,

I'm about to shoot a 7 minute short in 2 weeks. At 10:1 ratio, i am expecting around 70 to max 80 minutes of footage.

How much space does this take if I shoot it on RED 4K 2:1 setting?

Thanks.

Also depends on whether you are shooting REDCODE 28 or 36.

I just got done with a project shot in REDCODE 28 - and that was around 1GB per minute. With just over an hour of footage, a 320-500GB hard disk (about the smallest you'll find these days) is more than adequate in either mode.

Guys,

Whats with the REDCODE #? What's the difference between the different numbers? Is this like Camera firmware?

Its the data rate of the R3D files. You can select what data rate you want to use in the camer menu settings. REDCODE 36 is slightly less compressed than REDCODE 28. In our testing it's pretty hard to tell the difference between the two. REDCODE 36 seems to be a lil less noisy in low light scenarios.
