I am getting "error: unknown" and a red exclamation mark when using Log and Transfer with clips longer than 3 minutes in length. All the other clips from my shoot got transcoded to ProRes fine except the clips longer than 3 minutes. Does this have something to do with how the RED handles big files?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am using a Firewire external drive. It is FAT32.

So how do I get around this issue? Any thoughts? It's going to be painful if I can't transcode footage over 3 minutes.

Thanks!

I changed the destination drive from an external firewire, FAT32 drive to a MAC Extended partition and the problem was resolved. The source drive is still a FAT32 based drive. The files that were generating "error: unknown" previously are now transferring without incident. Thanks for your help!

I'd reformat that external so you can use it... it's easy, just open the Drive Utility in your utilities folder and click on the "erase" tab... you'll need to back up any data you want to keep first, but then you can easily use it with your Mac...
