This would be a very tempting mod with a Red Drive to create a solid state solution with higher write speeds and larger capacity than allowed by a single card. I'd be interested to see how it performs.

Yes nice , But why you need it. If you have FW800 Reader is fast .Same thing is RED FLASH (CF) . Sow you can buy this one and connect it to RED camera But only 1 Card .

Its as a replacement for the Red Raid Drive Biba. Should be as fast but have the stability of solid state media.

If my math is correct, you could build a 48GB "RED FLASH DRIVE" for around $2,500 and have two 2.5" HDs left over to do with as you pleased...

1x RED DRIVE (RAID) $900
2x DIY SSD SATA $380
6x RED 8GB CF CARD $1200

If it didn't work, and you weren't able to return the SSD SATA units, you'd still only be "out" the $380 plus shipping, and the proud owner of a RED DRIVE and 6 CF cards. You could even use your existing cards for testing.
