I've been debating between the two for sometime now. I know they are different but not too much. I can mount the camera on both units, move equipment around, and able to get it in my truck for transportation.

On the other hand, the height of the mount isn't adjustable on the cart as for the round d round dolly I can have my tripod setup.

Any suggestions.....?

Matthew's dolly is the way to go. Is it more important to have a flat surface to build your camera/haul gear on or have a dolly to do shots off of? Oh wait, the doorway dolly does have a flat surface, just not as tall! Another suggestion is looking at the Filmtools cart. I got, for about $800-900, the film tools cart/handtruck that has 4 pneumatic tires and a 24" top. On my last shoot I used it twice and knew that it was worth every penny. Plus, I got the modern studio doorway dolly for $1050 after a 25% pay when I order payment. So for under $2k, I got both. Not bad!

The Round D Round dolly sells for $2500.00 Seems a little expensive.

Can you provide me a link to the studio doorway dolly? That's a great a deal for both!

There's no pictures online at www.modernstudio.com, but it's almost identical to the Matthew's and Norm's doorway dolly.

Here is the film tools cart: http://www.filmtools.com/fillibjrwitb.html

The price for the filmtools carts and 24" shelf isn't bad until you consider the shipping (a little over $100 I believe)

I believe this is the one been refer to http://www.cinemagadgets.com/doorway-dolly-p-380.html

and is made by Norms studio, and sold by Cinema gadgets, which also sale the sliders from Modern Studios among other things, some good pricing especially after the rebate.

The difference is that the MSE is a D-round-Dolly, were all four wells turn, which is obviously great for tight turns, which I don't think the Norms Dolly do.
