Down Covert to 1080 10 Bit 4.2.2

I am new to the forum and the RED post world. We are currently shooting a commercial on the 4K RED ONE. My question is if i just want to edit and post in 1080 4.2.2 10bit as listed in the title on my post, what is best way to do so? I am MAC based (2x3 Ghz Dual Core Intel 8GB RAM/Final Cut 6.0.3/AJA Kona Lhe). Any info would be much appreciated as i am GREEN when it comes to RED.

2.uncompressed QT ?

depends what you want....
so what you want? i tell you then a good way

Most likely uncompressed. I haven't tested out pro res yet. Any reason one is better than the other?

pro res is "visually" losless:
pro:
less storage and reid speed is needed
con: compressed....after some layers of CC you`ll get some problems
asfaik after effects can render out pro res only with 8 bit.

uncompressed:
pro: yeah its uncompressed baby
con: really hardcore fast and huge raid is needed.



workflows:
pro res
1. really quick and really dirty
log and transfer plug in for FCP....you are using to ProRes transcoded proxies
2. full debayered Pro Res workflow.....render out all shots with a full debayer from redcine/redalert or redline

ah....fcp doesnt have so much effects/transitions which can be rendered in 10bit YUV....so you need some plug ins.....coremelt or/and noiseindustries...

this is no 10 bit rgb workflow...thats another story

yes, but with crimson you have a pretty good offline/online approach....but hey if you have the power to edit 2k uncompressed footage....then congrats to you.

con: time to render out all your footage is huge

After Effects can render out to ProRes at 10bit now. You have to make sure 'Trillions of Colors' is selected in it's output window as Color Depth.
