ok I am pulling my hair out here.. Tell me if I am wrong and what I can do about it:

My audio person needs to see the audio levels for logging... But my director also needs a monitor.

If I have a monitor coming out of HD-SDI then I have to select 720p and that means I LOSE the damn audio levels on the HDMI port.

Is there a way around this.. I'm pulling my hair out here, and if you saw my hair line.. It would worry you!!

Jay

Tell your audio guy "tough shit"

Seriously he should have levels on his mixer synced to the camera (or at least close) So he should be able to log from there.

i do this all the time once all levels are set i monitor at the mixer.

Audio levels for logging...what the crap? How do you log audio levels? I think the other guys are right and have your mixer correctly set levels on camera to match the mixer's 1k tone. If they don't know how to do that, then I would suggest finding another audio mixer who knows how to do this VERY basic thing.

I would agree with mike, tell him "tough shit" and call him a hack. hahaha.

What most the mixers that I've worked with are doing is to have a mini phone cable built into their cable loom that plugs into the camera's headphone port to make sure that the audio is making it to the camera. They send 1k tone and adjust the camera with me once and that's it. the audio track on the camera is normally for a scratch track and the audio guy records on a higher-fidelity dat or digi-nagra system.

As for the video, I doubt it is possible to put the audio information on that display.

Nothing you can do about it until your EVF arrives. With the EVF you can see the info, the LCD can see the info and the HD-SDI can not.

or

dont use the HDMI and send HD-SDI to everyone, but once you get the EVF you will lose this.
