Okay -

One more time -

PLEASE PUT A RESOLUTION BUTTON IN THE SENSOR MENU

Here's why -

#1: right now, you have to access TWO separate menus to switch from 4K to 3K or 2K for slow motion - you should be able to go into ONE MENU - change the frame rate and change the resolution. Period. End of discussion.

#2: The most COMMON MISTAKE that creates DUPLICATE FILENAMES happens when someone goes into the PROJECT MENU to get to slow motion. They change the resolution - and then - it just seems logical to change the FRAMERATE right there - problem is - that frame rate is the PROJECT FRAMERATE - and if you turn it, and then turn it back, you RESET you REEL back to 001 - and this create a DUPLICATE FILENAME - MANY people don't know this.

#3: The solution is SIMPLE. Keep EVERYTHING THE SAME in the Project Settings Menu - simply ADD a RESOLUTION BUTTON in the SENSOR MENU next to VARISPEED. Now, your TECH can tell the camera department - "just don't touch the 'project settings menu'"

Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter!

This is the kind of thing that you only notice if you work wiht the camera hundreds of hours a month, which Mark's crew does..

I have not encounted this, but I have no doubt I will.. I hope this suggestion gets heard.

Mark,

What is the correct way to do it, so we dont duplicate files?

As long as you NEVER change the FRAMERATE in the "Project Settings" - and ONLY change the framerate in VARISPEED - you will be fine.

Problem is - it's just counter intuitive and SLOW to have to change settings in TWO menus for THE MOST COMMON THE THING WE CHANGE BACK AND FORTH WHEN SHOOTING RED.

Thank you Mark, Im about to receive my cameras so I need to catch up quickly.

I agree. I overcrank everything, and changing resolutions and frame rates is a pain. It could be a lot easier.

Please simplify the process.

I agree...after using the cam a ton i can see some issues with alot of the ways the menus could be re-organized or steamlined.

Yeah, menu needs a redo. Varispeed is counterintuitive to be sure. I know I was changing the frame rate when what I really wanted was slow motion. Varispeed sound like you want to ramp. It doesn't sound like you want to change the framerate to 100fps for slow motion. Bad terminology.

just list out your ideas in this thread - I know Stuart appreciates specific feedback.

the Varispeed/resolution thing is my biggest bitch -

next for me is -

I think ALL things AUDIO - rec enable, headphone, etc. - should be in ONE menu.

Now we have AUDIO and we have SOUND bla bla bla

I think that this is a great suggestion, I'd also like to see the ability to have A B and C be links to a specific look and resolution and framerate, so that you didn't even have to go into the menu to change the settings.

Yeah, my concept has been that the programmable buttons should really pull up entire new display screens and let the user create those via XML. The we could trade setups etc.

By biggest bitch is edge focus assist should be easier to toggle. It doesn't belong in the false color menu - one's exposure and the other is focus. All things focus together. All things exposure together, all things sound together.

'Cause that's how you think. You don't think "I need to change the scene but not the project". Huh?

I'd like to see preset frame rates, so I can quickly go from one rate to another. Example: 24,40,60,120. User programable would be cool too.

Speed is often the key when shooting. The less menu time, the better.

This is something that I'd love to see as well. Usually on a project we're switching between 4k @ 24 and 2k @ 120 (or another multi-speed variant). So it would be absolutely amazing if we could set the user buttons to be 4k at _________ and 2k/3k at ___________ to easily switch between the two settings and not have to dig through the menus. It would be very handy.

Yes!! I hadn't thought of this but it makes huge sense. Mark, I think of you as the 100% customer #1 (in that you are strictly on the consuming side of things) and I really appreciate you taking the role seriously! Too many of the other pros who use this camera dont give a rats about the community or completing the loop to make the product better. Big thanks my man.
