Just FYI.
I know all drives go bad and run a risk.
I just felt you guys should know my experience with this company.

The External HD is OWC Mercury Elite Pro 2TB.

After trying everything we could come up with and spending time on the phone with OWC Tech Support.
Our BRAND NEW NEVER USED bought for this feature film 2TB External drive worked a total of 2 days.

Now we are told the Bridge Port is bad.
I know I have not lost the footage and the drives inside are not bad.
But we can no longer use this set up. We have only put 20GB on this 2TB drive so we would love to keep using it.

I my opinion I will never buy another OWC drive.
1 out of 4 is bad I cant have that for RED workflow on set.

Hope that gives you guys some helpful information.

good luck.

I always bring adapters to hook up bare drives anyway,

NO enclosure is good... they are all bad, I've had Lacies to G-raids to OWC and coolgears all fail on me, but never the drives. The drives I just transferred to another enclosure and rescued my data, even a RAID set like in the 2TB FW800 OWC. I actually have two of them I wouldn't trust them If my life depended on it. Just move the drives and get a different enclosure.

we use trayfree enclosures from Wiebetch - http://www.wiebetech.com/products/RTX100.php

I bought one of those drive docks as a back up, but ALL external enclosures are shit to me, I take them all apart no matter how fancy, they all die before the drives.

Instead of weibetech I went with a 5 bay enclosure and extra trays, for our 20TB+ TV show. The wiebetech is a little pricy, the Burly 5 bays were $570. and trays were $25 each,
