Scarlet is not intended to be a RED ONE replacement (said that before). If you want ONLY a manual everything, professional grade camera... buy a RED ONE. Scarlet is targeted to wreak havoc to the pro-sumer camcorders that do offer auto-manual everything... but Scarlet will ALSO generate professional images.

For all you people who have been asking for the moon with your Scarlets, please re-read what Jim just said there and temper your Scarlet dreams with a bit of reality.

Scarlet will outperform anything in it's price class, but it's not going to be a tiny Red One. Discussion over. You can stop asking for stuff now.

You can stop asking for stuff now

Depends what the stuff is... not everything is a "500 - 20 000mm telezoom version of Scarlet for the price of two"

I am sure Red knows what is good for you. So stop asking for more. Every time anybody has a brilliant idea about Scarlet please re-read all of Jim’s threads.

I have no doubt about that, but you should still remember that Red One was developed, not quite together with the community, but I believe that the Red community hade a great deal to do with making it into what it is today.

This is one of the revolutionary ingredients of Red... they listened to the users and actually made changes. Try writing to Panasonic and make them change even the most minor design aspect on their next camera... not possible.

I don't think it's good to say that everyone should silence themselves, especially on a forum dedicated to the camera.
What should we talk about instead? Yeah, weather is good, we had some nice sun today... I think tomorrow will be good aswell... etc.

To have an open discussion about the camera is healthy and good for everyone. We educate eachother, come together and work as a global team of cinematographers, we are able to discuss the camera with the creators and they can listen to what some users think is important.

As said, it's not a democracy, but we have the good opportunity to speak our minds and the dictators (as they call themselves :) ) actually listens.
They decide what might be important to listen to and what's not, not you.

Our responsibility as users might be to keep it on a rational level.
If someone want the ability to name each clip they shoot, so the postproduction becomes smoother, it's not a far fetched suggestion...
But like with the current lens discussion, Jim already gave everyone both specs and reasons to have it fixed, but some are still requesting interchangables... that is irrational.

Just keep the discussion rational...

What you are saying is that we should stop talking about the camera in the forum dedicated to it... is that rational or irrational?

Jim and company seem to have the camera set to go. It clearly looks that he put the lens issue to rest. We know is 3K, hot off the oven new sensor, Red RAW and RGB, with CF cards, it has an LCD, auto everything and I am sure with manual override, with a few aperture numbers on the menu, WiFi, firewire connection, a button to turn it on and off… Pretty much everything basic a camera on that price range should have plus some heavy duty extra power to boot.
If people rehash old stories is fine, invest your time as you wish. To me reading these threads is becoming just hilarious.
