I think its not bad to have image in 8192 x 4320 resolution :)

Man that's a lot of resolution.

One thing to keep in mind is that once displays go past 4K (some might even argue 1080p), 99% of movies and TV shows shot over the last 50 years are going to be left in the dust and won't be able to resolve at the new resolutions. Most movies from the 1980s barely hold up at 1080p, IMO. You can see grain all over the place on the Blurays.

Now, maybe with some restoration some of these movies will hold up at 4K, but not all of them. Once you move past 4K, then for sure all of our movies and TVs shows are going to look like SD shown on a 1080p set - ie, crappy.

This super duper 8K stuff might catch on one day, but for now I think 4K is probably the next gold standard for display, since in theory older movies shot on 35mm can be scanned at 4K.

8K... that's 4 times 4K. OMG.

Using my Jedi powers, I can clearly foresee a RED with a 65-sized 8K sensor, which will be downrezzed to a final 4K master, which will blow our minds.

But seriously, I'd prefer this resolution madness to stop.

Gimme more DR and less noise. :)

Thanx god that J. Lowry started to clean old fliks in 4K back then. Upscaling 4K to 8K is way better than upping from 2K or 1080p daub

otherwise gimme regular size of chip and no more problematic tiny pixels

Karapetkof you are really hardly working to reach that 1000 post price in less than a year :)

some movies will never go past 1080p, like Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, and all the stuff being shot on Genesis now. a lot movies over the years have also finished with 2K DIs, so i imagine it might be difficult to go back and remaster or recut them at 4K?

i think some FX elements, for example, were done at 2K on some blockbusters, if I am not mistaken?

nearly every vfx now is in a 2K. 4K is still big chunk of data

I really need to see!...

... you know..

... those things...

:).

ok then PM me how it was :)

hope you didnt end with same expression like your avatar :)

One of the greatest on-screen ownages ever.

here we go - Tom's passion and Karapet's avatar. What a coincidence :)

He-he. it seems like me and karapetkov have kind of become partners in crime around here... trying to keep it lively. :)

You can't blame him[us], it's one of the best movies ever.

I've picked this exact frame, because it is actually the outburst of the rebellion (Woo-Hoo :)).

But I'm thinking about changing it, cause it's kinda psychotic. :w00t:

...

I probably won't..

Freedoooooom!

:)

I have to admit your av captures more of the pivotal moment and the insanity of the "outburst of the rebellion" than my screencap. :)

BTW, you are very wise to rank Braveheart among the best films EVER. :)

Yeah, your cap shows a more quiet Mel, which could mean something like the "calm before the storm".

Who knows which one is more important. :)

Braveheart is Braveheart. It's one of a kind.

And uncle Mel is one crazy genius. :w00t:

Yes. Wallace scored a huge movie with his script. Not that it helped him with "Man in the Mask" or whatever it was called.

Horner has since become a complete dipshit. He gave Malick a bunch of shit on The New World, and Malick basically kicked Horner the curb and went with Mozart and Wagner. hahahaha.

Horner is a prick, IMO. If you read what happened between him and Malick, Horner looks like a joke. He's been recycling his same music since Braveheart and Titanic. His accomplishments were amazing on those films, but since then, he's been riding on his reputation, IMO.
