  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any one see REDROCK mattebox

In LA, I know EVS will have some matteboxes eventually, if anyone wants to have a look at one up close.
EVS? I tried to google them and came up with other companies that doesn't exactly seem like they'd carry a mattebox. :)

I would love to take a second look at the improved model. Can you provide a link? Thanks.

Hi folks

Appreciate the comments and feedback. Yes, EVS will be carrying the microMatteBox box.

Jason - these refinements will be in the shipping versions, and there isn't a lot of differences you'd see visually. It's much better appreciated when you will be able to touch it and see it in person. Jason since you are local to LA, when it comes available you can swing by and check it out here at RR West

Brian,

question re: 15mm offset. Do you envision a different mattebox or simply a different bracket or adapter?

In other words, what do I order now if I have no need of 19mm but do need 15mm offset? Will the 15mm offset be something that attaches to the 15mm lightweight version?

thanks--and nice work!!
p

Hi Paul

When the design phase is done we'll have an answer for that. I suspect it will be six of one, half dozen of another on ordering the 19mm or 15mm lightweight configuration now.

Cheers

Brian

Brian,

Maybe this is an odd question, but the two CF rods that suspend the mattebox from the support arm... Are they 15mm?

Lets hope they are 19.... good question though, wondered that myself.

Hi Brian,

Since you seem to be lurking on this thread, I thought I would ask you here.. I notice a few people talking about buying your Micro F\Focus as a manual back up to the motorised versions on offer such as ViewFactors's.
Can the RedRock F\F be mounted on 19mm ?

I'm using the microFollowFocus mounted with the Red Universion Mount and 15mm Adaptor and 2" rods. It is a bit bulky but works very well, even with big Cooke zooms and primes.

You may also want to check out our microFilter kit, which is going to be announced shortly. Some really great filters at really great prices.

Turnover: the microFF is currently 15mm lightweight, but we have some things in the works - stay tuned for cinegear

Vincent - "which is going to be announced shortly" ;)

we'll make sure to post info here on reduser when it's announced

Brian, I understand you're also going to make a 19 mm adaptor for the existing follow focus that I have. Do you know when?
Will filters be ND + IR?

Hi Johan

We don't have a public date on that, but we've been known to announce things at larger shows such as, say, cinegear? ;)

microFilter info will be coming out next week

Cheers

Hey Brian

When are the boxes going to start shipping out? I threw money at you guys as soon as I received the email, but I have no idea where I am on the reservation list..

Anyone know of a cheaper mattebox that offers a tilt filter stage and 138mm circular filter stage at the rear of the unit? I can only think of the Arri's and Vocas' that offer these options.

Richard

We have already shipped the first batch out - the balance will have the refinements we incorporated from the show (the first batch will be retrofitted to include all the improvements). Our lead times haven't changed from the email - For planning purposes we advise everyone you should plan on 40 business days (60 calendar days) from NAB.

Thanks

Brian
