Im going to be shooting some tests and a short project on the RED next week and i just wanted to get some clarification on a few points re. the REDs metadata.
1. If the RED sensor is rated natively at 320 asa 5000K is there any value in shooting at a lower asa setting? Will the image be any sharper or any less noisy? Given that my highlights will start clipping sooner i cant see the value myself but please correct me if im wrong.
2. In trying to wrap my head around the idea of metadata would i be correct in saying that the Color Sub Menu is effectively a tool i could use to create a basic LUT for monitoring and dailies?
If thats the case and i was shooting at 320 asa could i use the Exposure range in the color sub menu to create a LUT for what a "push one stop" or "pull one stop" might look like?
4. If i was sending a heavily processed image to the monitors is it possible for the viewfinder to see a lightly processed image at the same time?
5. Is it possible to switch off the gain sub menu altogether?
6. Shooting 4K at 24/25fps to flash cards am i still limited to RedCode 28 or i can i shoot 4K 24/25fps redcode 36 to flash cards?
Thanks,
S
