I am sending this appeal to any and all who have dared to risk and been humbled by the need to ask for help.

Here's where I've been:

http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0044977/

Now it’s time to step up and be the hood ornament on a film. I’ve written a short.
Here's a link that includes the script, images, tests, locations and cast:

http://www.motionstory.us/two_four_six/two_four_six.html

My plan is to start shooting around the 9th of May .
It will take 5 days.

I’m looking for use of a Red Cam, lenses and accessories.
A favor of this magnitude would not be forgotten, and I would look forward to repaying you in any way I could.

I have insurance (donated) in place to cover your equipment.

For what it’s worth, I’m from the school of film directors who believe that :

1. Collaboration is what brings the best to a production.

2. And that life is too short not to have fun, because after all, it’s only a movie.

Thank you in advance.

Seriously? All those years operating and you can't knock on some rental house doors and get a donated package?

I wish I had my camera, Paul. I'd hand it over to you in a second. If I'm lucky you'll be down and out and in need again ;) I'd love to chat with you about some of the awesome flicks you've operated on.

oh well, good luck. I'm sure you'll find someone here to help you out.

Yeah, it is a little odd, but the fact is that the rental houses where I am known: Panavision, Otto, Wexler, Birns and Sawyer don't have them.

Very kind of you Brandon. I'd be more than happy to exchange "no-shit" stories some time. My contact info is on my web site.

Paul, that final shot of him looking upwards in the script plays out gorgeously in my head.. Great script.

I hope someone here helps you out!

Hi,

I was looking on your site, looks like a great project, Unfortunantly I live on the other side of the world.

On the camera test section I noticed you tested the RED and you have another test titled "Panasonic EX1". I this a test of both the Sony EX1 and the Panasonic HVX?

Hey Paul.

A few questions. I assume you're directing, so who's the DP? Your website said you still need a crew. How's that going? What equipment do you have access to... lighting, etc. Is your shoot dates set or flexible? (Can it be pushed back and split into two weekend shoots?) My camera is ready to ship and I'm going to finish up financing soon, but I'm not sure it'll get here by that date. And I'm going the birger mount route, which isn't ready, so we'd need access to lenses.

Adam,
Thanks for your kind words.
The test was shot on the EX1 only. Unfortuantely, a couple of key shots (the close coverage on the bad guy and a 60 fps shot of a simulted gun shot to the head) were untransferable in my PC based / Avid workflow, but I learned a lot.

Jason,
Thanks for your response. Here's where we stand:
My DP is Robert Kositchek.
I don't have a focus puller locked in yet, nor an assistant to handle all the downloding and record keeping, etc.
Sound mixer is in place, need good boom handler.
We have crew for production, though I'm still waiting to confirm a 1st AD.
Set dressing, props, make up all have people interested and if all remains clear on their schedules, they will participate.
I need grip and electric crew. Three and three.
Equipment-wise, I'm confidant in getting sufficient grip and electric and sound. I think I can get lenses pro bono if my karma is in good stead.
We need costumes for the cops and props for them .
Picture cars: I'm hoping to find a bus for nothing, we need an El Camino and two Black and Whites for the cops.Paul

PBabin come in Vienna once and we could do a project together.

Everything is more exotic here than in LA, California or USA.

I'm packing my bags now.

The great irony is that the idea for this short "Two, Four, Six" originated with an incident that happened to me in Vienna!

Here's what happened: I boarded a street car somewhere in the heart of the city, sat down, and noticed on the seat a beautiful suade cap. It was well-worn, lots of character, and I imagined that the owner would be back looking for it soon. So, I tossed the hat up onto the rack above my head. At my stop, I exited, and heard a comotion behind me. I turned as the hat landed in my arms. I looked up into the smiling faces of passengers as the car pulled away. They were very pleased to have returned "my" hat to me.
So, a few years ago I began substituting a bag of money for the hat. What if? Anyhow, as I wrote the short, the characters took over, but the "hat" incident is still in the film, except that it's a backpack with $60,000 in it.

Hey man I'm coming up on summer myself, will be taking classes but that is just one day a week...if you need crew hit me up and I'll be glade to lend a hand. That goes for anyone else who has stuff going.

I've got everything you need here Paul, but I'd only be interested as the DP. Gotta work on the reel myself. I just finished a USC thesis short, going into editorial now, here's a still
