Anyone have thoughts or recommendation for a shoulder pad? I'm looking for one that preferably has an Arri dovetail plate on it or can be fastened to one. Just looking for comments / suggestions on what people like to use before I just go buy the Arri shoulder brace kit or something else. I may even just make my own...

Take some foam from a fabric store, cut it about an inch or so bigger than what you would like for your support, then duct tape around your shoulder design so its compressed to the size you want, then wrap a kitchen towel around it and tape one last time. This is what I did when I was on crutches and it didn't hurt under my arms all anymore.

The arri shoulder braces that I've seen (I forget the model #) don't slide into the baseplate all the way because the shoulder curve hits the Red camera body. Sim has a nice model that works with their baseplate and Element Technica is coming out with one soon that's sure to be good.

Try Anders Holck's Ugrip thread. He had a water jet cut pad that looked good. He was inviting people to contact him if they needed one. I tried to PM him but I'm not sure he got the message.

Sorry, I got busy and failed to reply. I have made a new design though.

I bought a few of the Filmtools shoulder pads when they were first available. I love them. They're well built and very affordable (under $60 USD). I used to build my own shoulder pads for extended shoulder held shooting, to avoid trapezius cramps and soreness. It's cool that I no longer have to hassle with that, because there are off-the-shelf products like the FilmTools pad.

Cool, I'll try the filmtools pad.

Anders, I'd also be interested in what you've cooked up.
