Hi all sorry for the stupid question but here goes...I want to make my Mac ready to accept Red data transfers...I've downloaded the plugins/addon, but don't know where to deposit the files with reguard to QT and FC.

Feel free to point me to the instruction sheets or to move this posting to where it belongs. Thank you for your time.

Hi gunleik

Hi gunleik

Thank for your time, here is my info;
Mac OS X Version 10.5.2
QuickTime Version 7.4.5

Just the standard install;
Final Cut Studio 2
Final Cut Pro 6
Motion 3
Soundtrack Pro 2
Compressor 3
DVD Studio Pro 4

Final Cut Server yet to be installed.
I hope this helps...just returning to Mac from Windblows.

I hope you have a Mac with a GPU.

The downloadable files are (as far as I remember) installers. Just install them, and you're good to go.

RedCine is very much a beta. When stuff bugs, you have to go into /users/"you"/library and trash the "redcine" folder

If you're not content with using ProRes as your final editing and CC format, Crimson is your friend. crimsonworkflow.com.

I have 8 GB in my Macpro. I think that is good...

A RAID will do you good, if you plan to edit uncompressed.
If not, a MacBook will do prores.

What do you need?
depends a bit on your ambitions. This thing is so scaleable that people get thrown off :) Don't be, though. That's really part of the inclusiveness and fun.

Gunleik

Thank you

Thank you

O.k....I just do it...and see what happens...I guess Windblows show with all the caution and all. I'll get accustom to this just drag it to the trash can thing yet. Thank so mush for your time.
