if the scarlet has a fixed lens, then f2.8 is a bit limiting...

my guess is that they're trying to make a lens that fits the size requirements of a pocket. an f1.4 lens might be way to big..

so in keeping with the whole red philosophy of not being limited by your technology, a multi mount system would be awesome :D

my suggestion.. bundle the small red zoom but have the option of a multi mount.

I haven't used a C mount, but I know that it has screw threads, instead of a bayonet turn-and-lock design like the PL.

So changing lenses would be slower.

Another advantage of the PL is that you can orient it four different ways, to expose different focus marks to different sides of the camera, depending on where you or the person working the lens will stand and what he wants to see (for example, metric versus Imperial (feet) markings).

"C" mount thread is one inch in diameter by 32 threads per inch pitch. Standard flange focale depth for "C" mount is .690 inch. Not all "C" mount lenses were made only for 16mm film camears. Be sure the one you using covers the intended format.

I don't think Red is going to worry too much about these requests. They said is a fixed lens. Things could change but most likely won't.

Your right chuck in fact most of them made today are made for 1/2, 1/3" and even smaller chip cameras.

Just the addition of ANY kind of mount adds hundreds to the retail price of the camera.
