  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What's Everybody Shooting With Now?

Oh, Hi8.. I forgot about that. I have a Sony DVC325/EVV9000 Dockable Hi8 ENG camera. I don't even think it's been switched on in the last 5 or 6 years. Although it did recently make an appearance as a prop on a show. So not so much shoot with it, but shoot it.

Xh-a1 for 10 months now (with a lex) before that I had a gl2 (with a letus FE) and before that I had a sony hdr-hc3 handy cam. Next is a Scarlet!

I'm shooting still photography stuff, but I did just get a Sony HC9 about a month ago. It's a great camera for home stuff (I've got hours and hours of footage of my little 2 year old boy already, ha!), but I primarily got the Sony HC9 over the Canon HV30 because the Sony has Super Night Shot and I want the infrared capabilities for some limited night shots for my adventures... such as around the campfire, inside my tent, hiking at night, getting shakey footage of Sasquatch, etc.

In about two weeks I'll be getting my EX1, maybe two, which will hold me over until Ms. Scarlet is ready for action.

They call me format agnostic. Give me toilet paper and I'll shoot on it.

ah, you shoot on toilet paper, must be crappy footage:biggrin:

Wow, my first post here. :)

I've been shooting with the Panasonic NV-GS500 for about a year. When I bought it I didn't feel it was time to make the HD transition yet, and I don't regret it. My household still doesn't have any kind of HDTV.

Hopefully, I'll jump directly from SD to 3K in 2009.

I just have to save some money...

David S asked about editing:

Final Cut Pro 6

Been using it since version 1. Not a bad option considering how well Red works with it and how the many feature editors have been moving towards it in the last few years.

I'm a professional film maker but my specialty is computer graphics. I work on animated films so I don't get to do much with live action professionally. Live action film making is a hobby (as is photography). I've been using an HV20 with HDMI capture for my short films.

I will definitely be getting a Scarlet. It will be like my HV20, which I use for my short movies but also for home video. Plus it's small enough I'll be able to take it with me when I travel.

Umm, a wooden 4x5 field camera, a Bolex, and a Nizo Super-8 camera? (seriously.)

OK, also a Sony A1U, which I'd like to get rid of soon. Working with it annoys the heck out of me now, though admittedly it was a pretty solid camera when I got it 2+ years ago.

Scarlet is about as definite a purchase as I can imagine.

I want to be on some of YOUR "shoots"!

I have 2 HVX-200s. One naked, one with a full Letus setup.

First post - Woo Hoo! Been shooting with an HDR-FX1 for a while now. Before that a PD-150 and before that a UVW100!

Been able to travel the world and shoot for some great non-profits and now traveling shooting for adventure travelers. I like the HDV format.

With Scarlet, well now - I'm not sure I can use it in my run and gun situations but after reading about what MamouthHD is shooting with it I'm really impressed and interested.

Looking forward to being part of the community.

HV20 , RED one

Same. It's sort of funny how common this combo seems to be, given the rather large price difference. I guess what the two cameras have in common is that they both offer incredible value. Both deliver an image much better than their price tags would indicate.

We were thinking about picking up an EX1 for jobs that are a little too serious for the HV20, but that don't justify showing up with a 4K digital cinema camera package. But our need isn't that pressing, so we'll probably hold off for Scarlet. It looks small enough to replace the HV20 in most situations as well, so we can probably cover all of our bases with the Red One and a Scarlet or two.

I'm shooting with a JVC JY-HD10. This was the worlds first consumer high definition video camera.

I'm shooting JVC GY-HD 201 since a year. Before that I used the JVC 5000 for three years.
I bought the Letus Extreme last year november, but being busy completing projects I did nothing with it except a test. The colors with Letus Extreme are very nice. I will make a free short documentary with to test it out seriously.
I like the 201, it's a reliable camera, it works fast, although I would have liked it to have a 1/2 inch sensor.
When shootings are simple I can work on my own a lot.
I hope to get the Red in July. Apart from expecting a real good time there are some problems coming up: Can I work with it on my own or do I really need camera assistence all the time?
With the coming of the Red I need a lot of better equipment. I allready bought a new tripod, I think I'll need to have Kino's and other daylight lighting.
When interested: some recent material (201 and 5000) is on http://www.videoproductionseurope.com
which is a website for test.

I use a Sony Z1u and a Sony HC1 and a Sony HC7.

Plan to get a Scarlet 3 months after it comes out and gets thoroughly reviewed. Maybe 1 day I get a full Red!
