O.k I was wondering if you guys can help me out with an issue I keep having:

I have a bunch of 4K 16:9 footage that I shot on build 14 (yes, I know the proxies don't work, and yes I know the R3D's don't open in REDALERT).

But now I'm having some issues with REDCINE outputting them. I add them to the time line, do a basic 's-curve' and re-size to 1080p. I set the output options to Pro Res (HQ) set to normal, REDCINE to process Full and filter to Sinc. I tell it to output to individual folders, and to name the files the same as they were originally.

However, REDCINE starts processing them fine (taking it's sweet time) but then it seems to get to a point and just output the same frame to all the other files after it. So I end up with a bunch of files that REDCINE output properly and then a bunch of files that just have one single frame repeated in all of them.

I knew there was a repeated frame problem before, but I thought it had been solved? I only just discovered this problem when trying to output 40-50 files in a time line, it almost never seems to happen on just one file.

My Specs:
Macbook Pro, 2.5GHZ intel core 2 Duo, 4G RAM.
QT 7.4.5 (25) (It came with Leopard installed and I was told 7.4.5 was better than 7.4.1)
I'm just upgraded to the v1.5.0 REDCODE plugin
REDCINE 1.0 beta

Yes, Ed. Same here. 400 files to transcode. Same problems on both my Macbook Pros.
I've been moaning about it for days. Took a week and a half to get through transcoding the files.
No response from Red.

Find the last clip what was rendered OK.
Delete the output folders (like EVENT001) with faulty renders.
Rename the remined output folders to something else or they will be overwritten later.
In a RedCine project delete from beginning all the clips what were rendered OK.
Restart render.
It needs babysitting but at least we got our job done.

Hi, thanks Priit,

Unfortunately it's not really a doable work flow though. I have 400+ clips to convert, and I can't dedicate weeks of time to just sit and baby the system. At the moment I'm getting 1-3 clips converted before it craps up.

There must be a better way.

I am having the exact same problem as we speak! Can you let me know if you figure it out? I will of course do the same...

Is this a joke, or a serious comment about the way REDCINE opperates?
Coz, I know I have a mild internet addiction, but I'm not sure it affects my work :)

I haven't heard the disable the internet one before, but basically you try to mimic a dedicated computer to RedCine, as much as possible. Meaning no other apps running, clean out your system, and so on...

The last release was in February, so hopefully an update happens soon.

lucas doesnt connect his redcine station to internet----

i started to mimic, only redcine running and no internet....no background appl.......like updater or whatever
---works most of the time

cj nailed it down

Always open redcine via redcine reset!
Set up your projects and save them. Quit redcine. OPen with redcine reset , open your saved files and then render (ie try not to make changes to your set up before hitting render).
Don't run other apps whilst rendering.

It hasn't crashed for me on either my Macpro or Mac book pro for ages (including 24 hour renders).

It's buggy - just know the bugs.

Thanks, Jeff, but what exactly do you mean by Redcine reset?

Ditto.

Although I seem to have got a full 24hr render, by uninstalling REDCINE, reinstalling, then opening a saved sequence and rendering. (fingers crossed)

I tried Red Reset and I still have issues with a single frame being repeated into multiple clips.

I found that it stopped doing that single frame stuff when I turned on the separate folder option. It seems to be working okay now.
