No joking no kidding in all seriousness.
I need a filter or some sort of system that can help me get rid of any and all posts having to do with Scarlet. Waste of space / time posts.
I do not want to hear another word about Scarlet untill I buy it the day it is released.

Please I am trying hard to just stay focused and make progress on the RED ONE.
I need to find and read real issues real answers real posts.
Not this BULL$%# these people are killing me with.

I feel we your paying clients the ones who have bought reds deserve some sort of system.

Not saying to get rid of anything.
Just give us a choice. Something that will help us the true users and operators the ones who have spent the money a way to keep good contact with one another and continue helping each other.

PLEASE.

NAB felt great I met so many guys that I am so happy to have met.
At the RED booth, RED User meeting, and FCP Super meet.
Much respect and appreciation to all of those who spent time talking to all of us.

Now let us reach each other and help us keep cleaner contact with out all this extra unnecessary stuff.

Thank you.
hope this gets to those who can make an improvement on this forum that i spend every day on.

It's not just Scarlet... This free for all really have it's downsides. I just saw a post about how good Sony EX3 will be....

yes, these "will-be`s" and "won`t be`s" and "what-if`s you could change`s" really make reduser a pain to visit. something has to change really fast.

Why don't you just stay out of the Scarlet forum?

Staying out of a forum by me filtering it myself is not a good solution.
There used to be something powerful about this site where your entire page of all LAST POSTS were worth glancing looking at the head Thread Starter.
Now often times its a waste of time. Or someing like
I love you JIM or something to that nature.

The Epic, and Scarlet questions are 2 things i do not need to know anything about at this time.
I personally visited NAB and gathered what i need to know.
I am not interested in bashing or reading on bashing any of those 2 products that are not even finished yet.
Specs will change count on it.

So I feel we need more than just a dont look at it.
We cant it takes up our search page.
I personally don't read by forum
I read by Thread / Thread Starter.
and i open it up from there.
And thats where get burned.

Who cares if someone says the EX3 will be great? Maybe it will be.

There should be open and frank discussion.

Tom, I agree. Discussing alternatives / competitors is a good thing.

The free-range nature of this forum is not going to change.. I think its a bit diminishing to RED USERS to think that they have no interests other than RED. Cmon.. We're professionals here. Lets discuss everything relevant, but with good prose and good spelling and relevancy.

TOM your HV20 threads back then helped me buy one! heheh

Biglu,

By the way, you may be under the impression that this forum is manufacturer owned and run. you'd be wrong. There is a degree of impartiality to this forum as it is run by Jarred independently from RED's business... Which personally, I think is an important distinguishing factor from other manufacturer forums.

I'm a bit torn in this issue.

I agree with BIGLu that there used to be a time were you clicked new posts and the whole page was alive with valuable information.

I also agree that it need to stay open in order for it to have that magic it had.

I think that scarletuser.com will save that. All the shooters that Scarlet will attract will hopefully get together and what will happen is that we'll have 3 camps.

REDUser for Epic and RED - were you come to talk grown up talk

ScarletUser for ummmm Scarlet - Were you chit chat about how cool it is to be 3K

and then

DVXUser for all of those poor guys who hasn't been able to climb the ladder yet  .

I like this idea.

RED has the power so I ask RED.
The creation of RED ONE and its help on this forum was the reason I wrote this.
Those in charge and those who respond here from RED seem to have the influence to make an improvement if you will.

We have spent the money with RED and I hope that RED listens and makes something happen.

I understand someone or others have made this forum.
I AM THANKFUL HELL YA.
I should know his name I have met him but i dont.
and im sorry.

So to those who own or run or create or change or make anything happen here at REDUSER.NET.
I hope this reaches your computer screen.

No joking no kidding in all seriousness that sounds a bit elitist to me..

I need a filter too, one that converts the word `color` into english (ie, color=colour, colorist=colourist, colorful=colourfull). Any other forum, any other subject, it wouldn`t bother me. I`ve even started using it myself when programming as a shorter alternative (ie, RGBcolor= etc) , my education is being subconsciously unravelled by Reduser. I`ve got nothing against "u", you shouldn`t too.

Biglu,

Seriously, this is bordering on disingenuous. Jarred works for Red. A monkey can figure out that there is at least a conflict of interest there, let alone a lack of impartiality. Jarred owns Red#10. Reduser has ads related only to Red products. Many things that Red announces are announced through the board. Advice and ideas are solicited through the board. Jarred no longer posts on DVXUser, a forum that he owns, and that deals with Panasonic, Canon, and Sony discussions. This isn't a slag on Jarred at all. This is calling things the way they are. What you've stated here is just not right. Sure it's technically not owned by Red. It sure ain't impartial. And I'm okay with that. But let's be honest.....

EDIT: at the risk of stating the obvious, an important distinguishing factor from other forums is the amount of direct dialogue that goes on between Red the company and the People who use the company's products. This has been very important in helping the potential longevity of the company, in that the company has demonstrated a willingness to help people with technical problems, and is open to listening to people, something that is sorely lacking in the new global culture in many ways

Is it really that hard to click on new posts and ignore all the scarlet ones?

With that said if there is a simple way to do it sweet. Otherewise it is just something one has to live with.

With success will come more noise. It is a fact.

With new posts they will almost always be at the top of each area so you can just click on Red one and see all the new posts. Same with 4k workflow or any otheres. The threads are listed by which ones have new posts

Early on, I thought REDuser was RED wholly-ouned as well. After all, RED allowed them to use their copyrighted name.

But I kept seeing moderator after moderator say things that didn't seem to follow the company line.

That has pretty much changed after the RED One came out but I figured it was just because they were bloun away by the camera.

Like you, I'm o.k. with whatever relationship exists. Maybe it's just a two year commitment and the forum will soon be free to work with other cameras. (Hope not)

There was a time when some of my posts caused a bit of controversy and inflamed certain parties whose names will remain unmentioned, I wrote a letter to Jarred basically saying I could leave the forum if my comments were detrimental, his reply was that " Its his house and his rules and he desides who stays and who goes "

From what I could determine by his laconicly cryptic responce was that it was not unnanomous but that it didnt matter since he makes the decisions and has the final word here no matter what.

IOW he makes his own decisions and doesnt belong to anyone except himself.

If he works for Red thats one thing; to be a mindless puppet something else.

This whole endeavor rotates around principle based leadership, thats where they connect, around values which translate into free will and choice...If it didnt make sence to anyone of them they would stop the association at once. They are choosen for their ability to think independantly. Thats one ingreident and secret strength.

On the other hand there are other companies lurking in these murky waters who are riding on the coat tails of this phenomenon but act according to another Modus Operandi all together.

But maybe when they ( The Lurking-Murkers ) learn that once their cover is blown they will just have to work that much harder to gain lost trust again. Word spreads fast. Its best to play it straight from the begining, especially if thats going to be part of your pr.

But then again if its seen as a part of pr then its nothing more than schtick.

Btw I am still here despite protest from certain big-wigs and the boards are still open. What does that tell you?

All I can say to your concern is; Read between the lines before drawing a conclusion.

I was told differently by someone very close to the situation when some feature suggestions touched a nerve.

Before they started hiding the whois info, I believe I saw that reduser.net is owned by Red Digital Cinema. Is Jarred a Red employee or not?

Err guys, you are taking this way too far. I said some degree. I probably wouldn't be a moderator sitting in another country that has absolutely no relation to the company if this forum was purely an internal company exercise.

He's right, you know.

It is not about absolute truths... (who cares about minutiae?)

This thread is about whether the forum conforms to Big Lu's needs, or whether Big Lu accepts the forum as is and utilizes the tools already in place and simply makes small changes in his behaviour to achieve forum bliss.
