A 4/3s mount with some kind of birger technology on the Scarlet, would be amazing, I know I would love it. putting on a 4/3s leica 25mm f/1.4 is quite nice for low-light shooting. Also with 4/3s you would be shooting "from the heart of the glass" (he-he) and nice options outthere already, all the way down to 7mm

4/3s is not proprietary, which means that red could still develope their own lenses

just a thought...

Secondly it would be great to have a digital input for sound. That way you could attach an external preamp-digitizer like the coresounds 4mic, and leave out the knobs on the body itself.

thirdly switchable IR filter would be interesting.

fourthly, maybe a sync-button, making a very short "beep sound" and timestamping the recording for eksternal sound-recorders.

You know, I really want Red to complete their thought on the development of Scarlet. This is amazing that we have a camera developer willing to commit to giving us a camera at this price point and acquisition quality.

The only thing I could hope for is for Red Digital to take note of the successes that came about when Panasonic shook things up with the introduction of the DVX and 24p digital acquisition at this level. Looking back, the camera was a success for many reasons, but, I remember buying one because it was 3rd party friendly. All of the adaptors and accessories that came into being just because the camera existed was great and made my decision to get the DVX100A an easy one.

So, whatever is done with Scarlet please make it 3rd party friendly. It's the little things. Like don't forget to add a headphone jack (with volume level maybe) so I can monitor audio :). For me it's about keeping it simple while innovating. The innovating part Red's got down. They only need a nudge here and there.

I have no complaints.

XLR Imputs would be awsome, this would be a replacement to my DVX so i would need that option. for the same reason 72mm lens thread or another very standardized size so that i can get a century fisheye and doubler. Please do not make it a removable lens, that would just make it too big for underwater housing and lightweight jib/steadicam use. Whatever you do don't change from CF cards, they work, are cheap and are readily available worldwide!!! HDMI/SDI output so we could link up all sorts of nice monitors and stuff for on set viewing on bigger shoots.

And hopefully a global shutter chip so that i can shoot stuff with lots of flashes going off!!! PLEASE this is a big one!!!

Keep up the good work!!!

I'm excited, will probably buy to replace my DVX but have a few suggestions as well.

1.Third party compatibility, I agree wholeheartedly with Keith.

2/3. Removable lens, would be nice, I understand for mass production/that price they won't go that route and that's ok but hopefully they'll have a flip feature on the monitor for those of us wanting to use an adapter then.

4. XLR, for run and gun recording it would be nice to have a more portable/standard sound input without having to worry about preamps and so forth.

5. I'm not sure how I feel about the body design, the shape doesn't concern me as much as the possibility of it being front heavy once accessories are brought into play.

I'm happy about the modular frame rate. Will be fun trying some miniature filming with the scarlet.

Those are just little tweaks I would like, overall I think the camera is amazing. I've been keeping up with Red's progress for a while now and think that Scarlet will force the other companies to ante up or get out of the game. Cannot wait to buy it, Kudos

Hi Red Team, hope you'll be back well from NAB and find this thread within al this scarlet-panic that's going on here :-)

Fixed Lens is okay, if Wide enought or there are adapters to make it wider.

XLR would be nice, yeah.

The "Build in" LCD should be high res enought to really check the focus. If not get rid of it and provide a better external one...

Ahh, and make the focus one-person-focusable while filming. Bun't know how, you are the geniuses ;-)

No complaints at all, love the Scarlet

Viva la DigitalREDvolution

1. Manual controls on lens barrel
2. Possibility of attaching lens adapters
3. How about a viewfinder?
4. 3rd party friendly (although it's probably not in your business interests)
5. XLR inputs and headphones (taken for granted)

I think I'd have to buy the camera if it had 1 & 2, and 5 is taken for granted.

Yes, we know: In combination with the Varicam it was the camera that transformed Panasonic's position in the production market.

However, that was then and this is now, but the lessons are well understood.

am i the only one who thought that panasonic's booth at nab was a joke?
looked like they waved a big white flag for the indie film market coupled with a parking space for wedding and birthday "videographers". hey lets not let the public touch our new crappy cameras, they might......uhh.....break or something.

What I've read on DVXUser, makes me think that their line-up is a joke indeed. It's like giving your kids the same thing you've given them last year and the year before, after they've used it, and wrapping it up again. It's like a bad joke. And somewhat sinister.

Do you realize that your very post is a complaint itself?

On a serious note, I have a couple of hopes and dreams.

I hope that the lens is physically long enough to stick nice easy to get at focus zoom and iris wheels. I have big hands and when things get too closer I tend to bump things, but in the end what ever you give me I'm going to play with:w00t:

Another lens related hope I have is that the lens can sit between 18mm-300mm if it can Scarlet will take huge massive bono sized poo poos on all the other small cameras, and then there respective parents will ring up the principle and the principle will reply, "Look Mrs. Sony you kid shouldn't be such a dumb ass." I'll stop now before I let this lens rant get as out of control as my last one.

Also I hope that it has super sweet mounting options so I can use it with my miller tripods.

And one last hope of hopes, dream of dreams I have is that the control has a separable WI-FI zoom control. It would be great if that part came off the camera, I know it might seem odd to some people but I want to stick this thing on a Jib and it would make life sweet like candy if the WI-FI had a removable zoom control.

At any rate, sign me up for 2 Scarlets 1 Epik and a partridge in a pear tree.
Whats a partridge?
