  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sony pmw-ex3

PWR-EX1, EX2, EX7,..... EX128.

I hope RED hits them hard with the modular design, cause I hate all this un-upgradable and always-soon-to-become-obsolete cool cameras.

:ninja:

Well said! I just got a ex1 and I wish sony would have mentioned this was in the pipeline.

but I guess between my ex1 red and s16 stuff I should be ok

Now I'm sure again I've been reading this anouncement before I ordered my ex1.
I do not regret my current ex1, it's one of the best cams price/quality and gives me astonishing results. Anyway I'm glad it's anounced now , because this could become my current ex' s bigger brother. The letus option seems also very nice...
Just impatient to see what Scarlet will really have to add in this class.

ps Unfortunately it's not that honest from sony again not mentioning this when I asked them about this when I purchased the ex 2months ago...They must have known this was in the pipeline.

Japs? Gypos? Why not toss a Kike in there and offend a few more, you Bulgar crud!

Sony uses a prism to split the light into three components. The three sensors are set on the prism. It is harder to accommodate larger size sensors on the prism. Also they have to keep the price affordable. The factory price of a Sony camera is 1/4-th that of the consumer price. So, they have to manufacture very cheaply to make it affordable to consumers.
Red uses just one sensor behind the lens. Easy to do. But three sensors give better picture.

Yeah, but I mean, why not just go with a 6MP CMOS sensor or whatever? Canon has a 1920x1200 CMOS sensor in their $599 HV20, so I don't see why Sony would not be able to come up with a 35mm-size sensor for their EX3-style prosumer cameras?? Or why Canon or Panasonic have not done it? It just totally baffles me that no one has done this yet.

I'm sorry but LOL at karapetkov's un-PC remarks. :)

Trying to understand the *mind* of Sony (or even the 'other' competitors) is baffling. It makes no sense.

When the community and the market asks for something, a good business decision is to listen. But they seem to forget that.

Oh well...their loss and Red's very big gain!

At the launch event I went to for EX-1 (great finger foods at that event) it was fairly easy to read between the lines and see that something else was planned... I certainly was left with the impression that a interchangable lens model was likely.

However it would be nice if Sony would telegraph their intentions a little better - I am sure there will be people who have shelled out significant money for EX-1 kit only to find out now that a better product is on the way.

Ego nunquam pronunciari mendacium! Sed ego sum homo indomitus.

Just for the record:

If I was racist, I would have referred to the Roma people, not "gypsies"? There is not "Gypsy" race.

D'you know the difference?

"Gypsy" is a term that can be attributed to members of any nation or race. It denotes behavior.

As to the "japs". I wasn't referring to all Japanese people, but to those japs, who use cheap tricks to make money and piss off people.

Any Bulgarian, Japanese, Vampire or member of some other nation who behaves like this, is a "gypsy", a "jap", a "Bulgar" , etc.

Focus on blood-sucking, Vlad Dracula. :usd:

I went to that event, good food free drinks get to fiddle around with the camera and listen to the ASC guy talk about how awesome the camera is.

I think that the EX1 is just going to become the entry level camera to the EX line.

That's it! It's not 4K, but useable! Full HD > Enough for HDTV, enough for independent filmmaking, and affordable! AND USEABLE!

All they need to do is come out with their next dslr with a movie function. :)

I do not care about the interchangeable lenses. I would use film cameras (or a RED ) for that kind of work anyway.

But I REALLY want that adapter that turns the LCD into a awesome viewfinder to be a upgrade option for my EX1.
