...had anyone had the chance to use it at the angenieux booth? how does it feel, any breathing, price?

I had a look at it yesterday. It's sharp as hell, perfectly constructed, with minimal breathing on focus racks. It's also compact and very light.

I didn't ask about pricing but I am assuming it is significantly more expensive than any of the red offerings.

BTW, the Red 18-85 is looking great. Pretty nice construction, certainly a step up from the 18-50 zoom.

Apparently the rear element sticks out to far to make it usable on film cameras. This is also bad due to the steep exit angle of the light out of the back of the lens could cause some port holing. If I'm spending 20k on a lens I want it to work on film jobs as well.

See this on Duclos's flickr stream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/quipmedia/2413432395/

What are the physical dimensions of the rouge? (Particularly length and front diameter size)
Thanks in advance.

This sounds very good.
I wouldnt be to sure that angenieux designed the rear deep in order to prevent use on mechanical cameras.

angenieux 35mm zooms are *completly* sold out, the demand is much higher than what they can produce. Also their military and medical glass is pretty oversold iirc. It can be an design change to get closer to the sensor. In over 20 years of being an angenieux customer and user, this would be the first lens which would be designed with an intentional limit. It dont rule it out, i just wanted to say this, and angenieux *always* gave me precise and accurate information, the good and the bad news.

Rear element sticks out way to far for regular cine use. No mirror cameras

Red camera with the new Optimo Rouge 30-80mm. And Paul Duclos in the back. Ha!
