  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NEW 1024x768 HD Monitor

I just found this 15.4" Samsung 1920x1200 LCD panel with HDMI.
It's kind of big, but with very good resolution

How much does it weigh?

to heavy for steadicam?

I love how small, light and resourceful RED's monitor is, but I do believe that this monitor is a great one in deed, very interested and will contact Matt, to share his opinion as well since He has been using it on RED.

Wile I'm not very technically experienced with the monitors, I for sure like a bigger one then RED's 5.6" hence the 8.4" seems a great choice a a second monitor, also at 3.2lb seems reasonable weight to carry on the camera set up as well.

Great job and good lock with it, will contact you shortly for sure.

Ciao,

KETCH ROSSI

Sam,
Thanks for the post. Yes I think everyone that sees it can attest of its amazing image quality and angle of view.
Ketch,
First let me say Hi. I've heard about you from Matt and he can't say enough good things about you. If you ever want a demo, let me know. We can try to meet and test with your red. :)
Finner,
3.2lbs with no batteries. (ketch beat me to it) but Steadycam work usually has a much much heavier monitor. in fact they prefer a heavy monitor because it counter balances the weight of the camera.

Crewpix,
I know, I've heard people tell me that the connections on the top was not a good choice. for me it has worked great. when the connections are on the bottom its just a little more difficult to plug in and see which connectors you are connecting. But the monitor can easily be turned up side down and the image flipped through the menus. So I think its a problem that can easily be fixed.

Thanks everyone for looking and for your support of an independent inventor who is just trying to get some money to produce independent films. :)

REVIEWS
Everyone has been asking about reviews, so I've compiled a list of review that I know about. Also, there might be some others I don't know about.

(most are from this a thread at DVXuser, and some are from this thread, I hope this will be of help)
if anyone knows of other reviews, please let me know. (send me a PM and I'll post the link. thanks)

Hey Guys,

I'm also trying to put together a Meeting where I can show my monitor to Local Los Angeles RED Users.

I can Host this meeting myself, but will need at least One RED camera to commit to coming over so the other users can see the two working together.
Is there anyone that would be willing to bring his own gear and show it with my monitor (since as of now its the only one showing the red menu's other than the RED LCD)?

When would be the best time for most people. Weekend? or Weeknight? (next weekend is out because I'm helping with a friend's shoot)

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Luis

Will your monitor be in any booths at NAB? I'd love to see it

Hi Shawn,
sorry about the delayed response. I believe it will be a the Redrock Micro Booth. Brian of RR has gotten one and will be showing it there. I will also attend NAB and will probably be hanging by their booth alot too. If anyone wants to meet up at NAB, just send me a PM and we can exchange info.
Thanks,
Luis.

(of course it doesn't have the red focus assist, or the waveform monitor.)

Is this still true? Is there anyway to get the focus assit and waveform monitor? Are those available in the EVF?

Thanks
G

Thats all the rationing of aspect ratios you RED users are going to get. Hence Aspect Ration.

hahahah,

Just kidding, you got me. So I can't spell, but I build a mean Monitor. :)

Its a typo. Oh well, it is what it is.

See you at NAB.

Thanks for pointing it out. I already send them out so it will remain as such.

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to let you guys know that I got a video interview with FRESH DV (www.freshdv.com)
Look on "Feature Videos" under " Carrion Production Monitor"

Also, I went to the red user party and met some cool guys there. thanks for the invite. After showing how the carrion shows the RED Menus, everyone that saw it got all excited. Seems like the Carrion and RED will be a good combination.
