Not really sure how to start this and I am not really sure if this is the right place to even post this.... but here goes....

I have recently received #1123. I am simply blown away by this camera. Jim and team- you guys have really made a childhood dream come true. I have always wanted a real movie camera, and now I have one. Thank you!!! (Looking forward to seeing you guys at NAB!)

I have been doing a bunch of commercial work here in South Florida, and soon I am about to DP for a submarine movie called "Seaviper". The director and the crew are very close friends of mine and we all have been working on this project for a while now. The director has been working on the script with his wife for about 10 years.

He has had some of the most incredible things happen to him over the last 2 years. He has been given a submarine (The USS Drum) in Mobile, along with a battle ship (The USS Alabama) to shoot on. Many Navy Vets, along with active Navy personnel have been working on the Drum to prep it for shooting. Everything has been complete volunteer work, and these volunteers have spent months working on this.

Guys- it does not get anymore "indie film-making" then this. Just last week, one of our crew members went to the Drum to install a hydraulic lift so the periscope could go up and down. They have been placing lights in the majority of the gauges. The periscope has not moved in over 40 years, and now it works just like it did! They have rigged up air hoses through a large portion of the gauges, and now the needles react and move. Those have not moved in over 40 years. We have been offered the chance to use the same u-boat model that was used in U571.

Again- everything has been complete volunteer work.

The director has an amazing cast ready to go. He has an amazing crew ready to go- and in t-minus three weeks, we will be rolling the first shots onboard the USS Drum.

So- why am I telling you all this?

Because I have an idea, and I am curious to see what you guys think.

Shooting the movie is number one on my mind, however, I want to take time to install a camera in the areas we will be shooting the movie and broadcast a 24/7 webcast. Everyone could log on (not sure what site yet) and watch the movie being made with the RED camera.

The only catch is that we are going to be shooting on the back side of the clock, so basically from 4PM to 6AM Mobile, Alabama time.

Would this be something anyone would be interested in watching? Is this something I should set up and try?

If so, let me know. I am curious to hear your thoughts.

Last thing- If someone wants to be part of this production, let me know. Time is running short, but if you live near the area, it might be a lot of fun to be part of.

If you want to get in touch with me, email me at statusfilms@yahoo.com. You can also check out the website www.seaviper.net. If you click on the logo on the page, it will let you in the website. There are pictures of us going through the sub, and the teaser is there as well. The website was built fairly quickly, and we plan to recreate it soon with some really cool 3D effects so it makes it more interesting. Right now, it is there to answer questions, and to give people a place to go to see the teaser.

We threw together a quick teaser, even though the movie had not been shot, so we could attempt to gain interest in the film. If you are wondering, the teaser was shot on the JVC GY-HD100 HDV camera.

I can only imagine how the RED is going to look.

So- enough said, let me know what you guys think. And let me know if the webcast is a good idea, or a dumb idea.

Thanks everyone!

Jon this looks great! I am a huge ww2 buff, let me know if there is anything we can do for you!

I'm sure I would log in from time to time. I'm glad you are motivated and excited about this project.
