Not sure if these are already planned, but I have a few requests for our monitor outputs:

1. HD-SDI outputs must have frame-line overlays, and/or remove the surround view.
The surround view creates issues on the HD-SDI monitors because this is mostly used for the clients and Director who are constantly asking about the framing. Most monitors can create their own framelines, but these are worthless with surround view enabled. I vote to lose surround view on HD-SDI outputs, or better yet have an option to turn it on/off if this is even possible.

2. BTW- what happened to the power button on the LCD? It no longer functions.

3. Surround View- In general this feature sounds like a great idea, but in practice it makes framing more difficult. Personally I prefer for my monitor, especially the monitor I am shooting with to display exactly what I am recording. I am constantly second guessing my framing w/ the Red monitors, which I really dont have time for. The difference between good framing and bad framing is just a few mm, and I like to know exactly what I am getting. Is it possible in software to allow us to turn this on/off?

4. EVF- A locking mech for the Diopter would be very useful, please consider adding this to future EVF's

As for surround view I disagree. I think this is a great feature and very necessary, especially when I get the EVF.

I do though think that there should be an disable option for HD-SDI outputs but don't take it away (some of us uses not only RED monitors for framing). Make it an disable option that is individual and not all HD-SDI at ones.

Another feature and correct me if I haven't studied the manual enough and it already exist.... when using the "magnify" function it "zooms" in on all monitors. It would be great to have a disable option for this with your selected client monitors. Simply so you could let the focus puller have his monitor "zoomed" in only, during shooting (yes, yes I know they shouldn't be pulling from the monitor, but it's a great help for them as they can occasionally glance at it).

I'd like to have an option to disable menus and particularly error messages on the HD-SDI (and even HDMI) video taps. We were trying to review some footage on a shoot last week, and the build 15 beta bug with playing back clips containing audio tracks reared its head... not a huge deal to just pull out a laptop to review the footage, but the error message got fed out to the client monitor. If there's anything going wrong with the camera, the client should find out about it from me, when I explain it as carefully and reassuringly as possible. They shouldn't find out about it when they see a huge red 'X' and a scary-looking error message on their monitor.

Agreed. I've seen stuff like that turn a set upside down because somebody freaks out. Client needs to find out through the proper chain of command, not a monitor.

Also, I suppose it would be alright to have "out of picture" switchable, but please don't remove it entirely. It's a very good thing to have.

An option for setting the opacity of the surroundview blanking would be great as the subject, gamma and viewing angle of the LCD makes it more or less obvious. You could then dial it to solid black to "disable it"

One small tip is to select a colored frame guide. It makes the recorded frame edge much more obvious than the standard white one. At least that's my experience. And it does look cool in red....

Great idea...this is exactly what is needed.

wow, didnt know I could change the color...I'll try that right now.

What we need is one of the HD-SDI outputs to be client friendly. That means they should not see surround view (i dealt with explaining surround view to some clients today and I confused the hell out of them) but they should see guides and timecode. False color and focus assists should also stay off this 'client' output. Today we wound up having to unplug the onboard LCD so we could get frame guides up for the clients. Previous to build 15 we never saw surround view on the HD-SDI and If i had to choose one or the other, id choose to leave it off.

Some sort of feed like this for the clients is a must.
