After a week of demoing our new Red (#1234) to potential rental clients, a question that was asked several times was: "Are there any plugs to cover up all the various ports: (CF, HDMI, USB) when they don't have anything plugged in to them. I would think someone, somewhere has SOME solution, but haven't seen it yet. Any thoughts?

Gaffer :)---------------------------------
i dont know how much a set of dead end connectors will cost....will take care of this when my cam arrives

???

Do people cover the connectors on other cameras too? I've never heard of it!

Still won't make them waterproof! :-)

Sony cameras used to ship with these, and they usually were lost within the first few months.

I have a 15 year old Betacam that hasnt had covers in 14 years and dont have any issues.

Gaff Tape! On Set Tape It Up! And The 400/800 Fire Wire And Power Input On Hard Drives To. Tape It Up!

I want rubber gaskets too, it would be nice!

marine air ...

marine air ...

I've settled for tape too ... salty marine air is not so kind (rain cover is not always practical)

We just use gaff tape too. Rubber gaskets would definitely be a plus. The tape can be annoying sometimes.

If there are, buy lots of extras it is always the first thing to get lost.

I've used BetaCams, F900's, Varicams for years that have NOT had covers too. BUT...those are standard BNC jacks. Pretty rugged, and had to infiltrate with debris. The CF port alone on the Red is a GAPING hole that NEEDS to be covered with SOMETHING when it doesn't have a CF card in it. Those very teeny little pins in there don't like dirt!
