  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

#87 Spec Spot #2

Well for 3am its a pretty clean, I dont need to give any more feedback on that...I feel once we see the fans spinning the 1st time then they can be already spinning in the rest of the fan shots, no? Anywho, the whole concept rocks and what a great message.

Not a bad thought—I'll play with it and see how it flows... thx

Outstanding work! I really enjoyed watching it.

The first thing I was wondering about is whether the curtains should be blowing inwards or outwards at the window... I guess the idea can work either way. (After thinking about it I like the curtains blowing in better; but at first viewing I expected them to go out.)

If it was me I'd make the second shot of the boy on the bike a fraction shorter, and the final CU of the girl a fraction longer, but at any rate it's very well done!

Yeah they SHOULD be blowing out but that just didn't look as cool... thanks for the notes!

If she turns towards the window and blows, I was thinking the curtains might go outwards. But if she is blowing directly at the dollhouse, and then turns to see the real-life curtains blow in, that makes a nice analogy also. (...just my armchair, monday-morning directing!)

That was truly amazing. Congratulations! Please make sure you post a high res version as soon as you re done if you can - prettyplease?!

What was that music you used? Really beautiful.

Thanks For The Rough Cut Post! Looks Amazing.. These Cameras Have Really Proven Them Selves Worthy! We Are Apart Of A Revolution.. Cant Wait To See What Other Dp's Out There Pick This Camera Up And Use It To Its Full Potential Just Like You Did!

Thanks!

From what I and many others have found the camera exibits around 8-9 stops of DR. These frames support that or worse.

Finner... you went quiet after the second post showed all the detail there. Did your opinion change?

Jim

It's great to see that there is detail there and I think the camera is great but I still stand by the 8-9 stop range for red for now. Hopefully build 16 helps that #. Even at 8-9 DR the camera is still very, very good. It just seems like the DR would be one of the cameras current weak spots and every high profile DP that has tested the camera has also come forward with those same numbers.

Thing is 8-9 is not that bad and the camera looks great. The DR is important to know though so the camera can be lit for properly to get the best results.

So why do you feel it's 8-9 and not the repeatedly stated 11+? I was at Red Day back in August and back then it was supposed to be either 11.2 or 10.5 (I can't remember which), and then there was the "daughter board upgrade" around Oct (that turned out to be firmware and not an actual daughterboard) that was supposed to raise it further. So, today we should be above 11, with build 16 supposedly raising it further.

This spot is beautiful, don't understand this discussion about stop range ASO, there is range, there must be range under this shooting condition. But it is a directors/DOP decision , if they want a more desaturated, blown out look. Never measured the dynamic range. But if I compare with other digital formats on one side and film on the other, RED is definitely closer to the film side.

Is the RED ONE green ? are any environmentally harmful materials used in its production ? just a question given the spot

right on Daniel; Finner wears 9 stop glasses, he can't help it.
Aloha

Actually I don't need glasses poi. In fact my eyes are so good that I can quite easily tell that the camera falls in the 8-9 stop category.
