  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm posting this here just in case people miss it in the off topic area.

Many of you have contacted me after the RSVP period ended and asked if you could still get in. We are at max capacity in terms of providing food and drink tickets for people, but what we have opted to do, so that hopefully no one gets left out of this party is to offer a compromise.

People who have RSVP'd will be able to attend the workflow event, receive drink ticket/raffle ticket, and get first dibs on food. Then at 9PM, we will open the party to everyone else. All that I ask is that if you are not on the RSVP list, please do not show up before then. We won't be able to let you in. It will keep things from getting confusing.

I hope this is a fair compromise. There will still be plenty to take in after 9PM. There will be vendors showing you how to trick out your RED, and there will be a cash bar. Plus, I'm sure the party will go strong until pretty late, so you'll have a good opportunity to chat it up with fellow REDUSERS.

i'm confused. i put in a request to be included in the workflow meeting on the original thread and also sent a PM requesting to be included back on March 13. i never received a response to either. but now it is closed? am i able to attend this? or not?

i mostly care about the workflow, i promise not to eat or drink anything...i have another party i can attend later on a different wallet and save my tequila-guzzling and bad behavior for them...
 
Some people may not have received email confirmations if their spam filters blocked it or threw it in the trash. I have responded to all RSVPs with a confirmation email. If you have not received that email, please PM me with your name so I can double check it against the list.

This is the first I've heard of this. I'm on the board everyday. Don't read much of the off topic section because it's well... off topic. Being a shop putting together a RED workflow, that's what I'd want to participate in.

Wish it had been more prominently advertised. Drag.
 
That truly is a bummer. I'll be at NAB, but didn't know about the RSVP thing for the workflow event...

Any chance of you guys taping this and posting it online for those who don't make it in for the workflow event or couldn't make it to NAB? If so, I'm sure everyone who isn't there would be supremely grateful (myself included).

I have to say there is something here that doesn't quite make sense to me. In the original thread on this it was stated that you wanted to make this for Redusers and in that spirit you wanted to make sure that it was free of charge.

But, because you aren't charging anything your budget requires that many of us get left out. I am on the Reduser message board every day and have been since I ordered by camera in August but because I didn't read the right thread on the right day I'm sitting on the sidelines.

It's for us... but we can't go.

I am spending a lot of money to fly me and my producing partner to Vegas, plus hotel and NAB tickets, etc. all for one purpose- learn how to use this camera, get the most out of it. I would have gladly been willing to pay for the chance to attend the workflow lectures, especially since they would have saved me time and money.

I appreciate the option of attending the party and will gladly take you up on that. Sorry to sound negative when you have obviously put a lot of work into creating something positive for the community, but I thought it was a point worth mentioning.
 
I would like to second the suggestion that someone tape and post the workflow lectures for those of us who were unable to get in. That would be tremendously helpful for us, those who couldn't make it to NAB, and those who attended but maybe were enjoying the refreshments a bit too much and could use a little help remembering what it was that was said.

Anyway to get two tickets? We're attending NAB primarily for anything/everything RED. I know it's late, but have to ask.

I gotta chime in with David, the way I read the original thread it was supposed to be an informal get together, then there was the typical thread back and forth BS and the next thing you know it's a closed meeting.
Really looked forward to the workflow discussions etc. but I guess some of us just missed a meeting.
My 2 cents....
 
There was a span of weeks where RSVPs were open and it was announced that you had to RSVP, but for those weeks it appears many ignored it. I had time to email everyone i knew who was going, let them ignore my emails, remind them, hassle them into RSVPing, etc.

That said, it would suck if you weren't paying attention. Steve has said they could open it up again if someone else would sign up as a co-sponsor. So perhaps you all know another company that would help out?

Look here, there are plenty of opportunities at NAB to view Red related stuff (pulled from MammothHD post at end)-
the following companies will be showing/demo-ing various RED workflows and/or showing a bit of RED Footage

-AJA (Jerry Hofmann - RED Workflow demo)
-B&H Photo -> New B&H Studio Division (RED workflow demo)
-Promise Technology - (replacement vendor for Apple xRaid) - showing RED footage
-Quantum - SDLT/LTO tape drives
-G-Tech (drives)
-Ambric - compression engine/codecs

For those of you that have never been to NAB, bring your tennis shoes...it is impossible to see everything at this show in 4 days, so do your research beforehand and plan out your days. The list in the thread above is a good starting point.

Everything you said is true Greg,

However I was hoping to be in an environment where I could interact with people I trust, people I know don't have a hidden agenda. Redusers. When I listen to a presentation an the NAB floor I know I’m hearing a corporate mouthpiece and I am unlikely to hear the downside.

That’s my main reason for disappointment. But my decision to attend came on Tuesday and oh well.. when you snooze. You lose.

But I will hopefully catch up at the after party.

Good point, Frank. But on the up side, it occurs to me that anything we see at NAB that we're thinking of purchasing we can post here and ask - someone's gonna know the entire lowdown on everything remotely Red related.
 
I would love if the workflow event can be recorded and posted so all redusers can have access im not to fussed about after the 9pm
