Just about every time I power on my Red, it freezes. I have to manually cut the power source wait 5 sec then boot again. On the second boot it works 70% of the time. I am on firmware 15, and just upgraded again to the 15 ver 2.2.1.
same happens.
It does it with DC, Power pack and batteries with raid in/out, cf in/out.
Will go back to built 13 to see if the issue occurs as well, but I am sure it happened on the 13.

On the good side when it runs, sweet Jesus ! IT RUNS.

If you have/had:) this problem and solution, please share it.

Thanks
Albert

Had this same problem yesturday, I kept one camera with build 13 and updated the one with latest version of 15. The one with 15 fails about 50% of the time, 13 has not failed yet. But 15 is soooo damn cool! I deal with it.

Had the same problem on build 15 but only with unformatted CF/Raid once they were formatted we had no problem booting.

Our camera froze today during bootup once, I disconnected the drive while it was off and started it up - no problem. Then I plugged the drive in and formatted it and it was smooth sailing since, bootwise.

Is there any issue or danger cutting the power during boot or operation? I'm hoping not, that you can do anything you want without risk of damaging the camera. Great if the only risk is losing that shot.

Does anyone know?

Had several instances of boot hang ups on a shoot last week. The rear LCD would freeze on the single line "Booting...".

I could power down instantly by hitting the power button, and it consistantly powered up successfully the second time in every instance.

Running the second to latest version of build 15 (v2.1.7?? Don't have the camera in front of me...)

Exactly that, with Build 2.1.7 and 2.2.1 - it's happened just as much with the latest build.

I can't power it down on cam when frozen; it requires a harsh & ugly power down by cutting the exterior power source.

Hope fix is coming.
Can this harm the camera?

Have had this problem maybe only ten times over three months with plenty of use and on various different builds. as with everyone else, it almost always boots up happily on the second try.

Had this a few times on Build 15.2.1.7. I found that if "booting" is on the lcd longer than about 20 seconds do a power down wait 10 seconds disconnect LCD, Drive or CF and hit reboot. 100% success when doing this. You can then reconnect the LCD once it has got past the numbers after "booting" on the rear LCD. So no biggie.

Anyway, I'm about to buy a V lock dual battery adapter so no power downs...

I am on the firmware v2.2.5, and it still freezes, then goes fine on the second take; is it my beloved Red?, or just the firmware?
Thanks
