Of course this is not a Red substitute, but the implications for the future are considerable.
As an aside, I did a commercial shoot, sheet metal, with our Red, 1129, before I really had a chance to shake it out. Used build 15. We had no problems of any kind on the shoot, other than a few failures to boot on the first try.
We used Anton Bauer 140's and the battery life was surprising. Didn't put a clock on it, but much longer than we expected. I changed every time I noticed the battery down to the final two bars.
Even with very high expectations, I was not prepared for the quality of the images. Absolutely unbelievable; the client's senior producer declared, "it doesn't look like 35MM film; it looks like 70MM film!"
The still frames, at 108 MB, look like they could easily produce very large poster sized prints. I did not do a side by side comparison, but they looked like they could stand up against my 17 megapixel Hasselblad.
When we first brought up the images you could have heard a pin drop. Speechless awe.
Good shooting and best regards,
