  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I need to rig my camera to shoot remotely triggered timelapse (fire a frame on external trigger, rather than set interval). Before attempting to wire the GPIO trigger I am testing by manually using the camera's record button in Timelapse one shot trigger mode. Here's the problem I'm having: while using interval mode places all of the frames into a single file, using one shot produces a separate R3D file for every frame, which needless to say, doesn't allow for playback and is a real pain to deal with. Will external triggering through the GPIO fix this, or is it something that will be addressed in future firmware?

Timelapse

Press the side record button rather than the rear record button and it should work fine. The rear record button is used to enter / exit the timelapse mode, but once in timelapse the side button becomes "next frame" OR if you use the GPIO, the GPI trigger is used for "next frame" ...

Can the side button also trigger the delayed ramp function or do we need to access the back GPIO?

That is an excellent idea - but no it does not currently allow that. GPIO only.

Where do we get this gpi trigger? Is RED or a third party making them?

If anyone has info please share.

Thanks!

I second that request

To be able to toggle the GPI via another on camera button would be great! Not that I'm not willing to buy a third party device, it's just that it seems like this would be doable on camera as well.
