Wow, someone really overpaid consider the other one on ebay this week went for what, $5400? I bet the seller is happy he got almost double of what it's worth.

Some thing is worth exactly what people are willing to pay for it. Prices and availabilty of zooms has gone to crazy town lately. I waited for 4 months for a broker to locate a 20-100 we were happy with.

Don't forget that ebay is a place of many scams. I recently sold a factory sealed ipod I got as a gift for over its worth on ebay, only to find that the highest bidder was sending me fake phishing paypal emails. I generally don't click on links in emails so it didn't work for them but it cost me a bundle since I still had to pay the ebay fees.

Just because a single item appears on Ebay like that doesn't mean that that's the market price. If the sale is legit and went through all the way and we know that for sure that's a whole different story.

I bought the same lens, in fantastic shape, with a PL mount and an ARRI LS-9 19mm rod support, for $3,900 from Carlos at Miami Film, this past Monday.

I think he still has another one left.
