S.two Corporation has confirmed that it will be exhibiting a completely new product line up at the NAB Convention (Las Vegas 14th-17th April 2008) in a an expanded location in the South Hall Lower Level.

Showcased for the first time anywhere will be the S.two end-to-end tool set responding to the growing requirement for 4K digital film production. The booth will also feature a new HD444, 2K & 3K capable uncompressed portable recorder and the enhanced production-proven S.two workflow, from capture to offline through archive and conform.

In addition, S.two will be making major announcements related to industry partnerships and co-operative development programs with leading Production & Post Production product providers including ARRI, Dalsa, Apple and da Vinci. Being previewed will be a revolutionary new product for real-time post production of raw Bayer Pattern Data originating with digital cinematography cameras from ARRI, Dalsa and Red.

S.two President Chris Romine comments "This year we have the most exciting new product lineup in our history. S.two’s innovative and environmentally friendly workflows appeal more than ever to low-budget indies as well as major studios. In addition to those mentioned earlier, we have two more new ground-breaking products that extend our tradition of cost and time saving production solutions to pre-post and post production applications.”

yeah but what RED has proven is we don't really need fully uncompressed. given the post guys have all said red has given them the best keys they've ever done. that was really the only reason to go uncompressed to get vfx work at high quality. if we don't need that then why would we need it at all

Have you ever worked with a true RAW cinema camera that gives you fully sampled uncompressed images at high bit depths? I have.... it makes a huge difference. Good keying off an .r3d file alone isn't a good enough argument.

the new james bond went with the dalsa 4K for their f/x shots for a reason. Because whoever was working on that project thought they needed to. You will see a lot of big name DPs go with RED. And you'll see a lot go with Dalsa, ARRI, Panavision, Viper and go with the uncompressed.

Different strokes for different folks....loads will go for RED, and lots will go to those who want uncompressed. And some of those will use an S.Two for that, and some will use other things ;)

You may not need this but uncompressed allows entry into Big Iron post
facilities by way of the S.two.
It now makes RED a Complete Digital Cinema Uncompressed SYSTEM. Very
important for the cameras future credibility.

it was supposed to be. a $6,500 option as I remember. someday. or on the RED 2.

or hell. maybe one day everyone decides they can live with compression on the RAW image. I think that is also VERY possible. For the forseeable future, there will still be demand for uncompressed by someone.

I wonder how much pressure it will take to get the RAW port back on the option list for RED.... At the very least make it a special order option.
My hunch is the Raw port or
RAW out the HSDSI port IS back and if you read the S.two page above
a 3K Uncompressed Portable Recorder IS mentioned, That would have to
be RED. It's also mentioned along with Arri and Dalsa.
NAB 08 should prove the point.

It's not just uncompressed it's Workflow.
Your Client turns up with the S.two, you turn up with camera and lenses.
you shoot. Your client leaves with the S.two goes back to a posthouse
and transferes/transcodes to ANYTHING. I mean ANYTHING.
This is a very elegent solution, simple and similar to Film/Tape.
It's what this camera needs.
Clever post houses are already investing in Acquisition DDR's/Devices like
the S.two. They may insist the S.two be used on future projects they are involved in.
It's only going to make your cinematography look better.
