Emphasizing the word "reportedly".
Although, that isn't to say they have bad information being reported to them, but the lack of direct sourcing brings validity into question.

However, one thing I do find particularly interesting:

Isn't the site geared predominantly towards consumer camcorder devices?
Perhaps this lends credibility to claims that Scarlet's price may very easily find appeal among consumer audiences.
Even though it's a professional camera, capable of professional results, it will be easily accessible by consumers and professionals alike.

Yeah, even if the rumor is accurate, "half the resolution of the Red One" could mean half the horizontal resolution (or roughly 2K) or half the spatial resolution, meaning the chip is about 6 Mpixels, with a horizontal resolution more than 3K. Or it could mean both -- that the chip is roughly 3K oversampling to compensate for the Bayer pattern and yield a better 2K.

I saw this too and wondered where this "leak" came from. I can't find it ANYWHERE else on the internets! It would make sense though, and I don't think most people here would be surprised to find out that it's true.

Yes, the trademark registrations and reported domain name registrations were strong enough hints for many to arrive to the conclusion that 2K was a green light.

With relation to the 2K resolution, a question that lingers is the sensor size.

And often do." If Scarlet is 2K (and it may very well be), I'm a little puzzled by Jim's response, which has the quality of a knowing wink, from which it could reasonably be inferred that the top resolution may be higher (or, for that matter, lower, I suppose).

I have seen that response also, but as I have stated before, RED would not do something smaller than 2K after already having everybody expectations there. At least it will be 2K...thats my thought about the matter.

of small cams such as the ex1. And being a "pocket" professional leads me to believe that any camera that did not do at least this would not be used by pros. or joes.

I visit camcorderinfo.com periodically (less now than before) and know that they have reported on RED ever since it was discovered a couple years ago. It isn't a sign of anything other than the writer of the blog is interested in RED's business, which includes RED One, and now Scarlet.
Incidentally, I've always found their blog to be a good source of indie tips (lighting, sound, etc...). I found them when I was trying to find more information on the JVC GR-HD1, which was, obviously, a couple years ago.
