Hi all,

My first RED One shoot was two spec webisodes on a micro-micro budget. Everyone donated their time and tools. "One Hit Wonder" is a comedy about a down-and-out lounge singer who makes his real living as a hit man.

These stills are a best-light by our colorist, Omar Godinez. No curves added. Creative grading work will follow after editorial. Notice the heavy blue noise in the second-to-last shot. This was corrected from very yellow practical flouros in the hotel hallway.

These look terrific. As for the noisy shot... we'll give you more to work with in Build 16.

I'm a bit perplexed. Time for me to do more indoor lighting tests. Shots 3,5,6,7 are really rough. How bad were the practicals?

Looking forward to Build 16 Jim.

The stills are neat to see but if you will pardon me saying so, it could be presented in better quality. Note that is one single JPEG which is 1300 x 5920 pixels in size. It shows significant JPEG edge-ringing artifacts on every frame, on my monitor at least.

Hi Micheal,

What lenses did you use?

Stephen

Hi guys,

Let me work out a better version of the stills to reduce compression artifacts. The single uploaded image went through a couple jpg iterations. Perhaps I'll post .dpx or .tif versions for a short time.

This was shot with Zeiss T1.3 18,24,35,50,85mm.

Looking forward to build 16.

Michael

Are you sure these are mostly JPEG artifacts?

I look forward to checking out the high res stills?

Are you sure these are mostly JPEG artifacts?

Absolutely. I can see the increase in artifacts between jpg generations... now that I'm looking.
