  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Folks,

I just received today via FedEx my first bit of the Element Technica treasure trove of goodies and here is the plain and simple truth: Their dovetail fits better than the original euro plate that came with the tripod. I had decided after ordering my tripod from BJ at Custom Supply that I was going the ET route with the baseplate. BJ promptly let me return the euro plate for a refund–thanks BJ.

Then, today the ET 9" dovetail for my 1030HDS arrived and it locks down as solid as can be. Not a smidge of movement or slop whatsoever, rock solid. So, I'm going on record as saying Oconnor, Custom Supply and Element Technica are all great companies with fantastic products.

Mark thanks for posting this... it seems that ET/BJ Custom Supply is an incredible combination for Red users and our various needs.
 
Another very happy customer of both.

ET is very definitely first class and we buy a lot of gear from BJ; never a problem.

I should of of never ordered a euro plate either. It's been a few months too long for me to return it even though I never used it. I wonder what I can get on ebay for it?
 
I guess if you don't plan on using any other camera with any different style of base mounting system, then don't bother with the euro plate. But I work with other cameras too and I can get a rental on my o'connor sticks and get to use it instead of having to use a rental set that never locks as well. If you don't have a touch and go plate you're going to have a hard time mounting any 2/3" or 1/2" video camera.
 
Love our ET products thus far. The 12" dovetail for the 1030HDS is great. Hadn't had any problems with it at all, and that along with the camera and everything else seriously creates for a very sexy combo. Fun time to be alive!
 
Stephen from ET and BJ from Custom Supply are great and supportive people to do business with. Highly recommended! And ET gear is top notch.
 
I have been blowing the ET horn for quite a while now and feel it is easily on par or better then the best cine accessories on the market. It is good to hear others are having as much success with ET gear as I have.

A great company with fantastic products.

Agree that these are both great companies. How much of a credit did you get for the euro plate?

For the record, ET Rocks!!

I have the 9" Dovetail as well, LOVE IT.

Having been behind the ET RED curtain, lot's of great stuff coming from them soon, to look forward to.

But more to the point.... Stephen & Hector are really good people.

Highly Recommended.

Why would you not want a quick release plate? I know it's great that you have the option of going directly to the head for a lower profile but a quick release still seems very handy. I have never used one without quick release can someone not using one chime in?
