fyi I just got a cheap box off ebay that says it will convert the DIGITAL signals from hdmi to VGA..it works on RED! now I have a great little 2nd monitor setup on the red for 1st AC and focus puller! got a little lillput 800x480 screen and the resolution looks great, just about like the RED LCD..backlight is not as bright but for most shooting it will be a great little high res display...fyi the screen has a really high quality built in scaler that scales down from 720p to the native pixel res of the screen....only works in "720p mode" under MONITOR setup though...

got it all wired up using the D power connector on the battery plate.

man you guys could have pushed out 3-4 amps on the 12v out could you not? it would have been so cool to use the camera OUT for power...

Awesome find Obin! this is a great example of achieveing professional equipment solutions on lower budgets

I think I can go one better though..

Using an HDFury 1080p HDMI to VGA Converter would eliminate the need to power your converter box, so you only need to power the lcd off the PAG connector on the battery plate. Half the price too.

How have you mounted your lcd screen to the red body?

Can't say I've actually tested one so not 100% sure it works, but it seems to do the job according to its specs.
