To be shot on red. Details are sparse for now. We have someone doing audio for us, however he mainly records sound for musicians in his studio. I'm not sure if the mics he uses would perform well...they're all rode. (NT5 cardiod and some others).
We have a pretty low budget, can't really go over 2500 for new mic stuff.
I was thinking the sennheiser mkh416 for outdoors, and the sennheiser mkh50 for indoors. Could anyone tell me if this setup sounds okay? I understand the mkh50 is a supercardiod...i thought hypers were better for indoors but i've been recomended this mic a lot for indoor use. What do you guys think? I'm mainly concerned about the mic choice for indoor use, as most of the film will be inside. Thankyou very much.

The 416 is the industry work horse of the broadcast Television industry.
Get a good blimp and make sure the Red can use the Phantom circuit before you order the P48 model.
I saw a few posts about Phantom power issues with the Red one in the early builds...so double check with someone running a P48 setup.
You can also power the 416 with an external power supply (BP-2).

wonderful, thanks dave.
anyone have anything to say about the mkh50???(or other indoor mic options?)

I use an mkh50 when in close for boomed dialogue both indoors and outdoors and a 416 for outdoors for work at intermediate range of 2-4 ft. all fed into a an SD302. These mics are a great combo for boomed work. My 416 uses the K-ZEP wind system and the 50 uses a rycote bbg indoors and with windjammer outdoors.
