Nelson Productions shot a promotional video for Benchmade using Red #27. Shawn Nelson (my brother) was DP/Director for this shoot. We cut together the footage several different ways to give them options. The commercial is only 30 seconds and the Tradeshow and Preview are approximately 2 minutes each. The latter three, Manufacturing, Retail, and Military, are more in-depth looks at each of the three segments we filmed.

I personally edited the Commercial and the Tradeshow. The other four were edited by my employee. The Tradeshow and Preview were originally titled "Tradeshow A" and "Tradeshow B" as they were his and my difference in creative vision for the same sequence.

The videos load pretty slowly, so give them some time. To see a smaller version, add "small" before the extension (i.e ...BenchmadeCommercialSmall.mov)

Sarah, I'd love to see these, but your links are very, very slow - under 1kbps. It says it will take 5 hours and 19 minutes to download a 20MB clip! :)

Maybe you can put them up at redrelay?

Sorry, I'm working on it! I'm getting two of them on a different server as we speak. I will check into redrelay and see what I can do there. Thanks for the feedback, I'll get a better link soon!

I seen them! Very nice work and nice product line. Shawn N. [getting it done!]. Actually, I think Shawn has been the most generous with sharing footage. I have to go back and count, but I'm pretty sure the submission count is more than others.

Very Good work Shaw .nice video audiio combination for fast product .

But i have noticed that some jummpy fast cuts at the first of the clip

And (saving person) shot wast to fast cutting .really nice but

I Recommend that each cut should'nt go less than 9 ~ 10 Frames Each.

But it's Brave Work

Benchmade is an awesome company. A couple years ago I went up to Portland and we went out to the company headquarters and the owner of Benchmade took the time to show us all the knives that they had at that time. Very cool guy.

Great commercial BTW. I love that Infidel knife. Got to play with that one for a little bit out in AZ and its an awesome knife. Too bad you can't own one in CA. Good thing I only live here half the time:biggrin:

Shawn & Sarah,

Great commercial! What did you grade on? What shutter angle did you use for the outdoor military sequences?

Thanks for the info.

Sarah, nice cut by the way. The sharp edit reflects the subject matter (e.g. knife)...

Lol I hope the Iraqis don't find out our soldiers are packing knives called "Infidels." Haha.

Nice shots, Nelson Dynamic Duo. I have to agree with Bassam, though, that a handful of those cuts were too short.

We used a smaller package, a Kino 2' 4banker, 650w fresnel, 150w fresnel. We didn't overlight, though if I did it again I would light more, so I partially agree with you.

The producer of Discovery's 'How Things Work' said he wants to acquire our raw footage to cut together a segment for their show.
