  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED 1023 for sale ready now

In your Ebay auction you are selling the camera including $2500.00 accessories credit. I thought that RED withdraws the credit as soon you sell/transfer your option to buy.

That's right, they withdraw it if the transfer of ownership applies. If it's still under their name, they can get it back but they must then 'promise' to re-use that $2500 credit towards the 2nd hand buyer's purchases. In my case, the seller got to keep the $2500 credit.

i think the orginal cut off date was Oct 31, 2006 for the 2500 credit ...
then it was open again for about 3-5 days in Jan of 2006 ...
i believe the cut off is around #1473? somewhere near 1500 ?? ... so all numbers before that get the 2500 credit toward accessories...

You know, the last RED on EBAY went for 22,100 with the powerpack and production pack....

including the 2500 credit the seller made maybe around 4500 tops. Maybe the days of expecting a high premium are over????

What happened to the original ebay listing? Now it's relisted with a higher starting price?

i'm going to guess that it was because the auction used pictures from the Red site and the seller also used that opportunity to raise the reserve.

It's a very safe sale as only after varification does buyer leave small deposit . And buyer pays RED directly for the camera.

-Upon auction close. I will send winning bidder :

1)Red Receipt/contract,
2)scans of my California photo I.D., my U.S. passport .
3)my phone number in Shanghai.

We do a conference call to RED headquarters and talk to my assigned RED representative to confirm everything.

Winning bidder shall wire a deposit(10% of auction close price) within 36 hours of auction close. This deposit can be wired(which takes 2-3 days) to my China Construction Bank account . (My Wells Fargo account needs me to go back to Santa Monica to get a new atm card.) Both parties shall keep the receipts.

(Do not bid if you've lived a 30 mile radius all your life and have not seen the world :) and have prejudices and issues.)

- As soon as I receive the deposit, I will notify RED by email and by phone during their earliest operating hour. We can do a conference call again and I will have the shipping address changed to winning bidder's address.

Winning bidder will pay RED DIRECTLY for the camera. The camera has just been built and is ready. Do Not bid if you cannot pay RED within a few days of auction close.

I stated near the beginning of the listing it was possibly due to the Red pictures. There's no reserve but a starting price.

In the last 2 weeks one Red sold for $22k while another one sold for $32.1K. I was already getting private offers of $25K+ so there's no need to start the listing at $22K. And since it is a very short auction.

The reason I got from ebay was 'miscatogorized item', so either I put it in the wrong category, or because I used the words 'Red One Digital Cinema Camera ultra HD 4k arri pl' in the title and the word 'arri' cannot be included.

"This deposit can either be wired ... to my China Construction Bank"

I originally typed "...wired to my China Construction Bank account or my Wells Fargo Bank account in U.S." But it is inconvenient for me to access my Wells Fargo Bank account as I need to get a new atm card. So I deleted the Wells Fargo part.

Although the 22k RED sold w/ accessories (prod + power packs)

What about sales tax? Where is RED considering this purchase? California or China? Will the winner be required to pay sales tax?

Thanks for asking . As stated in the auction : "If you live in sunshine and beach California, there's tax and the buyer is responsible for it which will be added later. " The last time I checked, if the Red is to be delivered to another state in US, it is no longer to California so there's is no sales tax. I'll double check today. And check with Red b 4 you bid. If it is a foreign country you'd have to look into your local laws yourself.
