Red Cine problems

I have made many attempts using several different Macs to get Red Cine working. So far I either get a frozen frame, or the image freezes half way through the clip. I have done the quicktime downgrade.

I am using build 15 in my camera... is this the problem?

I should note that Red Alert works great and is producing impressive results.

Advice welcome.

Well, it's a beta program, that's for sure. Sorry I don't have any info to help you, but just wanted to confirm continuing issues here as well.

I did a fresh install on an nVidia Quadro 3450 PC. Nothing running except Windows. Installed RedCine. And I did seem to get solid performance without a freeze frame.

If I change the QuickTime version, I had to reinstall RedCine.

If I changed the codecs on the system, I had to reinstall RedCine.

Finally, got brave and installed my Avid Media Composer. Nothing else. Just Avid Media Composer. Nothing running in start-up. No connection to the internet. It's otherwise pristine. (And Avid is running perfectly...but RedCine has ceased functioning properly. Very unpredictable with QuickTime files. Sometimes it will render out a minute. Then it won't render any.

TIF sequences are still fine. But QuickTime DNxHD will not work consistently enough to offer me a workflow yet.

I'm sure fixes are in the works.

I concur. RedCine just plain doesn't work in any reliable way. Rendering it pretty much useless.

Apparently Redcine has very tight and strict system requirements. If you are not running a system that is exactly configured to its specs it will puke. It must be at the right temperature, the stars have to be aligned perfectly, and you must run in circles 4 times before launching it....or it will not work. Also, it must be a system that only has an OS and Redcine installed on it. No other application or function should ever run on that computer......ok....enough with the sarcasm....:bleh: I have complained enough about REdcine that I have now given up and accepted that it's beta and I don't expect it to work consistently for now.... I took a chill pill and decided to wait another three months before I start bitching again...

This is not to say that I do not feel your pain and frustration...... But there is really nothing we can do at this point but wait....

What Windows are you running XP 32?
I was told that if I change my 8700 to Quadro on Windows XP then REDCINE will run on XP!!

I didn't have Quadro so instead I took old Mac with ATI x1900 to run on Mac for now.

That is strange, few people posted here that Quadro and REDCINE is rock solid on XP 32.

Well it looks like it is just rock solid for 30 second or so.
