Hi -

I have some footage from a weekend shoot and have some issues with it. All our systems are now Leopard (latest everything) and Red QT plugin works fine with all the other RED stuff we have shot.. however...

Apparently on the shoot they found a setting on the camera that appeared to enable 4:3. It hasn't - (some odd aspect ratio - 1.2:1) and none of the files work properly in QT (Screenshot attached)

Redcine is OK - but it breaks my workflow pretty badly having to render all of this footage to something useable.

Anyone seen this before? Thanks for any help.

Cheers

1.2:1 is the first stage at enabling 2.40:1 2x squeeze anamorphic mode.
Right now it's only framing area and metadata with recording inside 4k 16:9.
That means that it's only supported in RedCine and Scratch and not RedAlert or the QT wrappers.

Ahh - thanks for your help.

I have confused myself as previously all the 16:9 QTs have worked for me (ones that were 3k all work, and 4k don't - as I have found out).

Yes I have experienced the same problem. I think it was a camera or hard drive malfunction because all the shots from one particular shoot turned out like that on the Red Drive. Nothing we have shot before or since had that problem. It was all shot at 4k full raster. Wish I could be of more help but we had to render out every shot using Red Cine since Redalert wouldn't even play the files.

I can confirm this problem with the (2.1:1) Anamorphic mode at the moment. The QT wrappers and the RAW R3D do not work in RedAlert. They seem to open correctly in Redcine.

Redcode 36 at 4K resolution in (2.1:1) mode is only supported with Red-Drive and not with the CF cards.

I will be testing a set of Hawk V series lenses in the following days. I will be shooting with these anamorphic lenses next week.

I'm definitely hoping the RED LCD will soon allow unsqueezed monitoring for the camea operator. I'm also curious to know what extent of the active pixel array is used in (2.1:1) mode.

Cheers,

P.S. Very nice camera by the way ;-P

no un-squeeze

no un-squeeze

So - as of now, the new anamorphic function on Build 15 does not allow anybody to see an un-squeezed image? is this correct?
thanks
