Deadmike and I went out and shot some tests and insert shots for a music video he's working on. We decided to make full use of build 15's newest coolest feature 120fps. I had some flash bang powder left over from a shoot, so we just spent all day blowing cakes up. He did all the shooting and I did the blowing up. Good times. Also note no major rolling shutter issues.

120fps, 1/2000sec, T3, 1K mov: http://www.freedomfromgravity.com/red/cakeboom.mov

dat wuz a thing a frickin beauty....remind me never to have desert at your house...

Actually, is the "black/purple blown highlights" still a problem? This is a still from frame 0:00:00:04.76 on Quicktime. Or is that supposed to be fixed with build 16?

Sensor protection is still visible. Its kind of cool to see the shape of the super bright part of the explosion though.

The sensor protection didn't seem as bad as I've seen previously though. It's possible that the explosion just wasn't bright enough to really kick it in. It really wasn't very bad though.

Mmmm... Cake. Great test!

The "sensor protect" issue isn't bad on this one. I bet that some simple adjustments in REDCINE would clear it right up.
