  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Released: Beta Firmware - Build 15

Re-activation of Phantom power?! Okay, that explains it. I didn't know it was DE-ACTIVATED in the first place, and was concerned there was a fault with the camera. Was about to rent a second microphone to test that. Good to know it was just an issue of software. :-)

You should only use the phantom power if you have received the new upgraded mini-xlr to full size xlr cable.. if you still have the old mini-to-mini cable plus separate mini xlr to full size xlr adapter, dont use phantom power until you get the replacement from us.

Jarred, I *never* received a miniXLR to regular XLR adaptor. Was I supposed to get one with the camera?

Hey Shawn, you can contact support and they will mail you out the new cable. ( for no charge of course ) Only the newer cameras have shipped with the new cable.

So do 3rd party mini to full xlr cables cause any issues?

only when using phantom power ( for now ). You can use 3rd party XLR cables right now if your microphone uses an alternate power source ( AA battery, etc. )

Yes all outputs are hot but the Red LCD is showing severe...lag, breakup, buffer issues? image judders? Not seen on EVF or HD monitor.

Try re-installing the firmware and reset all our user settings after doing so, and see if it sorts itself out.

I'm looking forward to the explanation for this one! I can only think of ONE reason, and it doesn't bode well for third party developers...

Quite the opposite... the files aren't open to the public because we want to support external parties properly. We know the format is changing over the next few builds and don't want to create more frustration for third parties.

First time booting after upgrade

First time booting after upgrade

:help: :help: I did the upgrade, and after 10 seconds turned on the camera. It has been about 10 minutes and it still says "Booting..." Any recommendation. Should I turn it off and on again? Should I re-do the upgrading?:help: :help:

Good luck in keeping this build off productions!

as long as I keep saying BETA BETA BETA, thats about all i can do.

Please guys.. do your due diligence and test the hell out of this build if you are going to be cowboys and take this out to the public.

Jarred, why the limitation on cable/phantom power combo, and is this at all related to the phase issues discussed in the following threads in the audio forum (which, sadly, doesn't get much attention):

Look files are very preliminary to jumpstart look functionality. As things develop, we'll release a look xml file format and provide support in RA, RC, etc.
For now, consider it only useful for camera to camera transfer.

so, third parties can start developping now?

This new build is not letting me shoot 23.98 fps 4K 2:1 RC36 to CF card. I'm getting "Media too slow" when I try to record. I was able to record this no problem in build 14.

Any ideas?

I assume you re-formated the CF after the FW install?
