I'm in need of some help here.

I'm on a shoot in Panama and I keep encountering a really troublesome LCD issue.

I'm running Build 14 (v2.0.3). I have the system monitor settings set to RED LCD.

About every other time I boot up the RED, the LCD fails to initialize. It does some slight flickering and then nothing.

The only way I can seem to get the camera to recognize the RED LCD is to unplug the LCD and then plug it back in and press the power button, and even then it doesn't always work.

It's massively impractical to have to do this every time I want to shoot. Has any one else had this problem and does any one know the solution to it??!!!

Help? :help:

(I'm not sure if it is a cable/ port issue, but I doubt it since the LCD works perfectly when it actually works, and I seem to recall the same thing happening once or twice with my other RED. Just for info sake, I plug the right angle connector into the body and the straight end into the LCD)

sort of like that ... we replaced the LCD cable = no problems since ...

I think you guys might be right, I reckon I've got an iffy cable.

I contacted RED and they say it's not a known firmware bug, and I can get the LCD to power on 70% of the time if I jiggle the right angle connector in the LCD port on the RED.

All I have to say is :ranting2:
I'll see if they can ship me a replacement here.

Still, shot some nice footage of tent making bats, toucans and small jungle cats today at an animal rehab center.

The cable connectors say RED on them, but the cable itself is Hitachi.

I assume this is one of the newer ones?

I've had issues as well. Sometimes on booting the LCD would be incredibly dark. (Almost too dark to make out the buzzsaw image). Rebooting usually fixes it. Occasionally not on first attempt.
Cable seems fine.
Build 14.
