  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Closet - Short Film

With the handholding and love theme, its easy to miss the bottomline, that is, the unnatural sexual relationship between two men (and two pre-teen boys in this film). Why do I say unnatural? The male reproductive system is made (yes I said made) for the fertilization of an egg of a female. One part male, one part female. The man and woman unite, the sperm passes through the female where it collides with an egg. Somehow a human grows in the womans womb and nine months later the man and woman have a family. This is plain as day. Do you eat food with your nose? No, of course not, the mouth is for eating food. Do I need to ask these same questions regarding sex between two males?

Hear me on this, I dont hate people who claim to be gay. Its just that gay sex is incorrect.

This film could be added to the list of gay propaganda that strives for "equal-rights" and I am sure it will win awards at festivals for that very reason.

I am neither gay nor an "advocate" of homosexuality, if there is such a thing. However, I have very good friends who are homosexual whom I respect and consider them wonderful human beings.

From what I can gather from your statement, you seem to narrowly define "natural" sex only if it is sexual intercourse between a man and a woman for the sole purpose of pro-creation.

Try to follow along here and maybe you'll understand. I doubt it. Here are some simple questions:

Is oral sex between a man and woman unnatural sex?

Does the mouth have only one function? Eating? But what about speaking? If you can acknowledge that a body part has multiple uses, then maybe the mouth can be used for other functions in addition to eating and speaking. Perhaps kissing? Perhaps smiling? Perhaps oral sex?

Is "recreational" sex unnatural? (Recreational defined as for the sole purpose of physical pleasure, expressing love, etc.; aka: all sex acts between a man and woman in which the man or the woman use any form of contraception or simply have the desire and intent to avoid pro-creating)

In other words, according to you, even men and women are committing acts of unnatural, incorrect sex all the time when they have recreational sex, oral sex, anal sex, etc.

But your feeble attempt at a logical, convincing, persuasive argument is frankly laughable: "Do you eat food with your nose?"

I guess you're entitled to your beliefs. Including that you're writing intelligent posts.

so what does your sarcastic "good job guys" comment qualify as? it certainly isn't about the work. if you want to proclaim yourself as some sort of moderator, follow your own rules. if you want to hypocritically pretend you are above all this and just comment about the work, then do so like everyone else did.

but what do you think this film or others like it are attempting to do? well, i can't speak for this film, only the writer/director can... but other films at outfest?

I did not intend to be sarcastic. I, like you am neither gay nor an advocate I just thought this was good work and that the subject matter did not need to be attacked.

Where does that thought come from? I am commenting on the films content and message, isn't the content of a film more important than aesthetic? Or should I not make a comment based on content, because it expresses "beliefs"?

Pardon my illustration: What other purpose does the anus have besides expelling feces from the body? And to what benefit would a man have ejaculating in another mans ass? What is the end result of a man during sexual intercourse? He ejaculates sperm, for reproduction. Again, is this a foreign idea? Am I just a narrowminded christian homophobe?

Sex is way more than recreation, at least I would hope so. Maybe it is wrong to just have recreational sex? I don't have all of the answers. It may be possible. However, you are relating sexual intercourse between a man and woman as the same as a man and man. Its not the same.

It really is a post-modern world isnt it? There is no truth. Maybe we should rationalize having sex with children. That isnt wrong, especially if you love them right? After all its just for recreation. The pedophiles need equal-rights too you know.

Hunterrichards: The answer to your questions are simple.
KEYWORD: Pleasure.. Pleasure don't make babies but make people feel good. And feeling good, is a emotion all humans whant to feel all the time if they could. I'm not only talking about physical pleasure, but mental aswell. Having a loved one say they love you. Be able to shoot 4K, eating good food. It's all about pleasure.

To reply to your pedophile comment. This is wrong because it's not two equal parts participating.

I know speaking with you is an exercise in futility. You can't help yourself in thinking your argument is right... or worse, righteous.

By the way, in regards to your other "logical" rationalization; contemplate the words, "consentual adults". A child is neither.
 
Apart from being a bit cliche..in a sort of beat you over the head with a message sort of way. It was beautifully shot and well acted.

First of all, great work- it's really a very nice film and quite beautiful at that. I'm excited to see where you'll push the color- it already has a very distinctive look- out of curiosity, was that from a rough color grade or from the way you shot it?

What was your post workflow like? Did you conform on Scratch? Is this just FCP proxies rendered?

This thread is an interesting situation as we're blurring the line between a technical discussion and artistic. We already have a lot of techies-turned-artists as well as artists-turned-techies on this forum, so weather the film's content should be discussed is a difficult one.
